i usually prefer the crooked line from uinta, but the hop notch was not a bad brew. decent light amber color, respectable carbonation. the hop aromas leaned toward the earthy side, with elements of stone fruit (apricot, nectarine) poking around as well. malts come through without being sweet. i personally prefer more bitterness in this style, but it was not as if this ale finished sticky or sweet. felt lighter than the 7.3%, and i could see myself drinking these faster than most beers over 7%.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into an Allagash cervoise glass. Best before 5 June 2014.

A: Thick creamy head. Pellucid bronze body. Sticky lacing.

S: Grassy and herbal. Subdued.

T/M: Thick and malty, with odd bursts of berries and herbs and lemon peel.

O: To be fair, I'm coming off an Enjoy By, but this still seems a subpar IPA. Aside from nice fruity notes, it's kind of dull.

A- Hazy light orange with a thin head that laces.

S- Piney, citrus, and grassy.

T- Resinous and piney upfront. Citrus, oak, and grass flavors make an appearance in the middle followed by a sharp dry bitterness that lingers.

M- Medium bodied and very resinous with moderate-low carbonation.

O- A very pine forward IPA with a lingering bitterness. It's very solid and straight forward.
