Glass: Standard US pint glass
Hop Notch is a solid US IPA from Uinta, focusing on grapefruit-like flavors and bitterness provided by North American hops. The malt base is fairly typical for an IPA, and the hops are the clear focus here. While somewhat generic (like every other US IPA), it's still a quality beer made by brewers who clearly know what they're doing.
Pours a fairly generous head of 2cm, made up of small bubbles, somewhat dense, but primarily dish-soap looking. Retention is about two minutes, above average for the style. The foam descends, leaving good lacing along the sides of the glass, primarily of thin columns with a slight wave-like appearance. The body is a golden yellow color, slightly hazy, with light bringing out brighter yellow-orange hues. Carbonation is visible, though minimal in number and sluggish in movement.
Abundant hop aroma, primarily grapefruit and lesser pine, hints of other citrus and bitterness, with a backdrop of slightly biscuit-like and light caramel malts. Hops are mostly bright, slightly dank, and at the forefront of this beer.
Front of tongue picks up grapefruit and lemon citrus on a bed of faint biscuit and light caramel malt. Mid-palate is of citrusy, slightly flowery hops, with strong grapefruit notes and lesser pine resin, guava, and passion fruit. Back of palate picks up strong bitterness, grapefruit, unripe guava, slightly biscuit-like malt. Aftertaste of long-lingering bitterness, with very bitter grapefruit over somewhat bland biscuit-like malts.
Beer is medium to medium-light in body, with carbonation of medium-low intensity. This leads to a mouthfeel that is slightly foamy, never prickly, but also somewhat smoothly stagnant. A bit more carbonation would do a good deal for this beer, or at least this bottle. Closes quite dry, with medium-level stickiness on the palate.

A-Clear orange pour with a creamy single finger head. Lace is present.
S-Slightly grapefruit. Lots of citrus and dank fruits, but not overwhelming.
T-Pine, melon, slight grapefriut, mild malt flavor,
M-mouthfeel is refreshing and dry. Medium bodied mouth. Great carbonation!
Overall this was good, if not great. Enjoyed how fresh this IPA was.

i saw this beer for the first time and never heard of it but im always up for trying a new ipa so i said what the hell.never heard of the brewery either.
first thing right off when you pop this cans top is a nuclear weapon of a hop bomb, the scent is world class to say the least and it explodes out of this can.
now on to the appearance,it pours out a very nice copper to hazy orange color spot on for the style, exactly what a ipa should look like.the head is good and it laces the glass very well.its a true beauty queen.
this beer smells like a hop paradise gone wild, their is malt for balance but not much.this is a hop nuckle sandwich to the nose but done well.
the taste is very good nice and hoppy and bitter at the end with a little malt in the front, top notch.if i had to knock it i would say its not exactly highly drinkable for an ipa its more like a double ipa in that regard.
its not too smooth of a finish and feels kinda heavy in your mouth but that again is more of what i would call a double ipa finish than ipa.still not bad at all.
over all its a very good ipa and one that you should try,i enjoyed it a lot and would buy it again.now their is nothing that stands out about this beer either i guess i should point out but hey everything doesnt have to be earth shattering or ground breaking.i love ipa and this just gives me another ipa to put in my go to list.

Pours a mostly clear amber with big off-white colored head. Lots of lace splattered on the glass as it slowly settles to a small cap. Smell: apricot, grapefruit, tropical fruit note, mini dank. Taste: pineapple, tropical note, citrus rind, sugary pale buried in lots of hop flavor and bitterness. Very nice.
