Presentation: Hop Notch has a simple label with an old world feel, interesting graphics and color scheme. Label states type of beer as well as ABV info and that the beer is brewed with renewable wind and solar power. Says Earth, Wind, and Beer under cap!
Appearance: A 16oz English Pint was my glass of choice for this 12oz bottle. Hop Notch pours out a slightly hazy golden orange color that with a 2 finger off white foam head of a light airy density. Head retention was excellent sticking around for 4min 42sec before fading to a thick foam coating and ring that resulted in excellent lacing that lasted the entire length of the glass.
Smell/Aroma: Smells of earthy piney hops that are complimented by sweet citrus scents. Spot on for the style.
Flavor/Taste: Tastes very piney and grassy with major bitterness hitting the palette up front and not fading at all turning into a very hop bitter aftertaste. All hops here and not much in the way of malts at all. Very true to the IPA form.
MouthFeel/Drinkability: Medium bodied with medium carbonation and a smooth silky feel in the mouth. Not filling and very refreshing, highly drinkable.
Overall/Comments: Excellent example of the traditional American IPA focusing solely on the hops. Very good beer that I would rank just below Stone IPA(my IPA gold standard). Picked this up while in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bottled on 8/29/12. Consumed on 12/24/12.

For my first beer review I thought I'd start with a somewhat recent favorite of mine. This beer, although an IPA, is extremely drinkable, even for someone who claims to hate hoppy beers. Despite it's slightly bitter floral aftertaste (that any decent IPA SHOULD have) it's surprisingly smooth and refreshing, especially considering it's 7.3% alcohol content. Also with that being said, this beer is easy to have a few of without realizing how strong it is so indulge with caution.
Uinta has become one of my favorite breweries, ironically out of Utah, where you might have trouble finding this fine crafted brew in it's true form. (However of you get the 3.2 version, this suddenly becomes a great session ale :-D )
