Appearance - Golden amber and clear. 2 finger head which lingered until my first big sip.

Smell - Sweet hops. Fruity. Slight floral notes.

Taste - Fruity Hoppy taste. More of the floral hops do peak through as it warms up. Very mild bitterness on the backend.

Mouthfeel - light medium body. Slight dry finish on the back end.

Overall - A great IPA. A good hoppy bears for the hopheads. I prefer this on draft than in bottles.

Nice bite up front with a hint of sweetness
A-like golden straw that's clear as a bell...lace like an Irish lass on her wedding day.
S-neutral...was hoping for a bigger aroma..but solid
T-usual IPA bitterness, but better balanced than many...sweet finish on the palate..that lingers
M-begging me to have another (another 2-3)
O-don't buy this often...wlll keep on my go to list.

I had this again and had to edit my review - must have had an old batch the first time. The smell was great this time around. Perfect balance of floral, grapefruit and pine. It reminded me of the Grapefruit Sculpin, which is one of my favorites. The taste is grapefruity and a tad spicy. Really good aftertaste and a great creamy head.

12 oz bottle served cold into an imperial pint glass.

Hop Notch is a slightly hazy golden copper. Thick, long lasting head with good lacing once is does settle.

Aroma is super hoppy and fresh. Citrus and pine abound with lots of grapefruit and orange rind.

Flavor is intensely hoppy as well. The malts are just there enough to support the huge hop profile. A little bit of caramel for sweetness and a whole bunch of hops for bitterness and flavor.

Mouthfeel is medium light in body and well carbonated.

Overall a really great surprise. I never expected this but it's really good. Definitely getting this one again.

This is a very drinkable IPA. It has a sweet, floral smell; it reminds me of white grape juice. It has a sweet initial flavor and medium bitterness for an IPA. It has a hazy golden appearance, with sediment in the bottle. This is definitely an IPA worth trying. As others mentioned, much better on draft.

First of all, we get this in cans in San Antonio, not bottles. I love the can. Love the color. Love the design. Love the compass around the top of the can. Love the fact that it says "Earth, Wind and Beer" on the can too. If I could rank stylistic points for appearance and creativity, this would get high marks.

But what's so great about the Hop Nosh is that the beer lives up to all the hype the can is bringing with it. It's a pretty dark apricot color with a good looking, thick head and some serious lace. Sticky, if you will. The nose is big on pine and citrus. Not flashy, but solid and totally what an American IPA should smell like. The taste is almost divine. Rich and assertive, the sweet malts grab you up front, tickle your taste buds for a brief moment, and then sit back and let the hops take over. Finishes rich with piney bitterness. Mouthfeel is chewy. You'll want to roll this one around in your mouth for a good while and enjoy it. Damn, this is a delicious beer.

This beer has become my go-to IPA these days. I just don't know how else to describe this except as the standard-bearer for the style. This is what all other IPAs should aspire to be like. For reals. And I love that it comes in cans as well. Well done, Uinta Brewing Co. Well done.

On my 2nd 6-pack of this so time to review...

Bottled on 11/16/11

A - honey-orange color with a finger of head. Tons of bubbles streaming up to the top.

S - great blend of tropical fruits here. orange and grapefruit at the front with a hint of tangerine and some sweeter fruits like peaches.

T - Bitterness up front followed immediately by citrus tanginess. Some sweet malt makes a presence to make this a really well balanced beer.

M - Really easy drinking - not sure on the IBUs but it goes down easily. A bit of lingering sweetness.

O - Love this IPA. Great one to always keep in the fridge.

A world class IPA. A waft of citrus upon opening. Pours a gorgeous golden amber sitting below a fluffy three fingered head that dissipates with fine lacing. Chewy hop edge, the kind of IPA you want to roll around on your tongue. This is the real deal.

A golden colored brew with a nice head that leaves lots of lace. Citrus hops and a malty backbone that is sweet and more predominant as the drink warms. Great hoppy taste that is piny. Solid malt backbone balances this one quite well. Grapefruit predominates especially in the finish and aftertaste. Good mouthfeel; stinging carbonation and medium bodied. Very drinkable. I've had this before and I'm re-reviewing it. I like it even better the second time. A fine IPA that will appeal to hops heads. This one may become one of my go to hop bombs.

Saw this beer at express lane tonight and on a hunch I bought it. The smell of this beer is fantastic. The taste is good going down but the taste lingers long after. This is a fantastic beer that is sold across us. I will defiantly be drinking this beer in the future. It pours nice with a thick head and the color is dark yellow.

Look is clean orange amber with half inch of off white head that dissipates slowly into a small frothy head.

Nose is bursting with citrus hops and is very pleasantly sweet. The scents all blend together well. Hints a apple, peach and some tropical smells too.

Taste is delicious. Similar to the smell its got orangy mango citrus with some tropical and pineapple. Very nice bitter that hits you first then mellows with the flavors melding and then reappears at the close. I could drink this all the time.

Really easy drinking mouthfeel with a pleasant spiciness. Medium bodied.

Overall this is a very very good ipa.

A - Pours a clear orange with long lasting 1.5 fingers of head. Excellent lacing.

S - Wonderful aroma that practically travels halfway across the room. I get sweet notes of orange and grapefruit and some grassy or faint pine.

T - Pretty bitter hop taste up front, the citrus/grapefruit flavor hits you, slight malt finish but the hops still dominate. The mouth is left with some lingering hops and citrus afterwards, a little orange and a little lemon.

M - Pretty light to medium body and carbonation. It works. The hop bite is ever-present so more carbonation is not needed in my opinion. This beer lingers in your mouth ever so nicely.

O - Overall a very wonderful IPA. This would definitely rank somewhere in the middle/end of my top 10 IPA's.

Sort of thinnish head, around a finger’s worth of just off-white foam, moderately tight weave helps retention until there’s just a few islands left, the lacing is wispy but sticks alright. Exquisitely clear copper orange colored liquid, glistens in the glass, virtually no bubbles visible though. Playfully scented nose of hothouse flowers, pine sap, pink grapefruit to tangerine citrus and an erect spine of herbal hops and pepper, the apricot, peach, pineapple fruit more muted, in the end more sweet than bitter but not lacking in the latter, quietly worms its way into your nostrils like it owns the deed. Medium-bodied, places the bitterness and leafy hoppiness upfront for an initial puckering effect, then allows the general creamy mouth texture to take over, orange pekoe tea, licorice, pine, sourdough bread segue to fuller pineapple, mango, peach, apricot fruit. Pink and white grapefruit, tangerine, mandarin orange, citrus soup in your mouth. Carbonation has a keen prickle to it but neither broad nor especially long lived. Very clean finish, refreshing and tingly. Could drink a lot of these ice cold.

Amber/orange color, mildly cloudy. Frothy, two finger thick pale yellow head with nice retention. Wonderfully aromatic, can smell it at first pour. Fresh lemon zest, crushed hops, citrus and roasted malts. Sweet, nutty overall aroma. Sour hop blast with softer and sweeter tones of fermented citrus fruits and brown sugar on the first sip. Balances out well no overwhelming flavor; a simply solid, full bodied IPA. Creamy, malty and hoppy overall mouthfeel with a hoppy finish.

A: Amber color with a white head.

S: Fresh orange, lemon, mango, papaya, pineapple, passion fruit and tropical fruit in the nose.

T: Starts of with a nice citrus character of orange and a little lemon, as well as a healthy dose of mango, followed by pine and tropical fruit. Finish is fruity, but malt forward.

M: Medium-full bodied and smooth for an IPA.

O: An excellent IPA, one of my favorites in the style and from this particular brewery.

Another Fantastic beer from Uinta. This bottle (dated 09-16-2011) was bursting with fragrant, fresh hops. The flavor was excellent, leaning toward the piney, citric side of the hop spectrum. The finish was sharply bitter, but short of being too strong. Mouthfeel and body were appropriate for the style.

I'm a certified hop head. I'll be drinking many, many more of these.

A - Dark copper color, almost reddish. Poured about a 1 finger head that had decent-good retention. A thin lacy cap remains throughout. Good lacing.

S - Citrus hops mainly. A little bit of piney hops, and some underlying grains. \

T - I noticed the piney hops flavor first, unlike the smell. but the citrus and grapefruit flavors are there very strong too. Good underlying malt backbone.

M - Somewhat thick, but good.

O - Overall a very good ipa. Nice strong hops bitterness but still very balanced.

Uinta keeps selling me here and there with their unusual bottles and color-saturated labels, but I've liked what I've had from them and don't know why I don't seek it out more. I grabbed a couple of these IPA's in a mixed six from World Market today. Label depicts a couple of farmers unloading some huge hop cones from a wagon.

Pours a rusty, crystal-clear amber. Nice head of fine off white bubbles which settles down in a moment to a nice looking collar. Visually impressive. But it doesn't stop there. The nose is just awesome: super-tropical, floral, mango, pineapple, booze - if I could drink this through my nose, I would.

Flavor is really hop forward, moderate-high bitterness, with a tiny amount of sweetness, citrus, and light malt. Actually has a pretty light and elegant feel to it given the big, fruity nose and 7.3 abv. Still pretty oily and full, with delicate effervescence.

Overall, I think this is a great IPA that I would totally get again. Welcome to my rotation, Hop Notch.

Hop pour a rich copper color. The aromas are mostly of brown bread and nuts. The taste is an interesting combination, I get some citrus, grapefruit and orange in particular. I also sense a bit of brown sugar. It drinks like a single IPA, but has a much flavor as most doubles. The creamy, smooth texture makes this go down very well.

Pours honey to lemon gold with a nice 2-finger stand-up frothy white head. Decent retention and impressive lace rings.

Big citrus nose. Grapefruit, and more grapefruit. A bit of biscuit malt backs that up, but rather one dimensional. A nice dimension, though.

Not quite a hop bomb, but pretty close. Grapefruit up front with a decent dose of pepper in the finish. Very tart and dry finish. Lots of grapefruit on the back end.

Feel is light resin and just a touch of syrup. Pretty darn close to perfect for my taste.

Really glad I picked this up and will seek out another 6.

Picked this up in NC, wish these guys were still in Arkansas... BBD of 03/03/13

Pours honey colored with 2 fingers of beige head. Good head retention & lacing

S: Catty & grassy, grapefruit

T: Grapefruit pith, lemons & lemon zest & a touch of grassyness up front. Some biscuitty notes as this warms. Become herbal & catty as this warms, pineyness & leafy hops in large quanititiesas well. Finishes grassy, catty, piney & grapefruitty

MF: Medium bodied, soft carbonation & great balance

I would love to try some of this fresher if possible, but fairly kick ass as it is, very quaffable

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Clear, beautiful amber hued golden color. Aggressive pour leads to a 1.5 finger head that slowly fades. Lacing is thick and leaves half a ring the same size as the head like a ladder all the way down the glass.

S: Smells just like weed with some citrus zest blended in. It's a fantastically hoppy smelling beer.

T: Wonderful malt profile to go along with a fantastic blend of hops. This is a really good tasting IPA.

M: Sticky hop oils coat the mouth and leave me reaching for the glass over and over. Bitter finish but not overly so.

O: An extremely well done IPA. Absolutely delicious.

A-Pours a transparent orange hue. Thin head is cream colored. Head leaves bubbles and trails of lacing on the glass. Thin head does retain.

S-This is how I love my IPAs to smell. Hoppy, yet perfumey sweet with bunches of ripe tropical fruit. Smell of clementines, florals, and even some pineapple and bubblegum. Well balanced but juicy-hoppy. Smells like its gonna be very tasty.

T- Citrus and floral all the way. Pine builds up on the palate after a few sips. Ripe and juicy with an animal cracker malt. Not overpowering or even extremely bitter, but the flavor is oh so drinkable. Long grassy twang at the end of the flavor seals this one out. The grassy/leafy flavor refuses to die off.

M-Medium bodied. The carbonation is mellow but pleasurable. Slightly resinous. Great, sessionable feel.

O/D-This one is pretty damn good. A perfect 6-pack IPA. Love the flavor profile. The intensity of the hops sneak up on you in a good way. Not very familiar with Uinta, but this is a pretty good start. Definitely one of the better IPAs that come in a six-pack in my area.
