Light coppery with golden tones the head was thin with little retention but extreme lacing.

The nose holds citrus fruit and pine with plenty of caramel malt to even it out.

The flavors are easily discernible with a sharp caramel malt at first sip. The hop profile is subtle at first but then grows with tropical fruits, citrus and then a piney finish.

The feel is smooth and drinkable but does give off a metallic bitterness.

Overall this is a very good IPA with plenty of tropical fruit sweetness and an offsetting malt backbone.

12 oz. bottle, with best before date of 03/19/2014. Acquired this bottle as part of a mixed six pack at the local beer store; I've only had this beer once before, & I figured this would probably be my last opportunity to try the beer known as Uinta Hop Notch IPA, before the name changes.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours a nice bright coppery orange colored body with three big fingers of white head. Nice thin rings & streaks of lacing. Some okay clarity, but slightly hazed. Looks very nice.

S - Smell is of big bright grapefruit / earthy / pine / spruce hop resin, lemongrass, a bit of soapiness, musty yeast presence, and lots of caramel / bread malts. Floral & mildly skunky. I feel like there is also some spice character present that I can't identify.

T - Taste is very nicely balanced. Piney / grapefruit hop resins, sweetened earthy tea leaves, lemongrass, and lots of bready malt to round things out.

M - Feel is mostly clean, with some residual hop bitterness and dry breadiness on the palate. Pine / grapefruit on the finish.

Overall, a solid IPA from Uinta, and I look forward to trying it again in the future. Very nicely balanced, and extremely drinkable for the mildly high 7.30% abv. Recommended for sure, as an easy readily available IPA.
