12 oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a snifter. Best before 9/30/13.

Pours a very nice glowing orange color, almost copper. Almost clear. A nice slightly off white head with very good head retention and lacing. Looks as an IPA should.

In the aroma, pine needles, some melon like fruits with a touch of tropical fruit. Some fresh cut grass and as it warms some pine resins come out. Some nice fresh bread aromas balance.

Very nice taste, has this just super fresh doughy bread component that I absolutely love, also adding a nice sweetness. The hops are definatly there as well, lots of dry grapefruit, dry pine. Dry mid palate, but Leaves a sticky, bitter resin on the palate after the sip.

Smooth and easy drinking for me. Carb and mouthfeel are spot on.

Really an enjoyable IPA, I'm glad this is now available in my area and I look forward to trying more of their beers.

A: This poured a clear gold with lots of white head.
S: It smelled like fresh grapefruit and pineapple, with some sweet honey malt.
T: It tasted like grapefruit and green mango, with some pineapple and sweet hungry malt. It had a clean bitter aftertaste.
M: It was fairly thick with a little carbonation. Nice big body.
D: This was a great IPA. Great tropical scent and taste, with solid body and a smooth finish. Easy to drink, and quite worth going back to drink more. Yum.

Clear, pale golden mug, with a light trickle of carbonation leading to a near white head. Looks inviting.

Light, piney hops on the nose. Maybe I'm just getting a cold, but it seems less aromatic than most IPAs.

Nice full flavor without being overbearing. Roasted caramel notes leading to a slow mild bitter finish and aftertaste. Almost sessionable for a 7.3% IPA, could be trouble.

Medium bodied, finishes pretty clean.

I know some people who say they like IPAs, but some are too intense for them3. I'd say this one is safe to recommend to those people. I'd definitely have a pint if I saw it somewhere and would probably buy a 6er again, depending on options.

Clear copper color with a hefty 3 finger soapy head, light carbonation.Decent lacing.

Aroma is piney with a dose of tart grapefruit rind but there is almost a sweet applejack funkiness in there.

Taste is an improvement over the nose; resiny, piney, slightly sweet and tangy. This is a hop forward IPA with the malt lying low. Pleasant grapefruit bitterness in the lingering finish.

Mouthefeel is pretty average and on the light side, somewhat thin, carbonation comes on strong in the pour but fades quickly with the last half of the can seemingly under carbonated.

Good bitterness and a hop forward IPA, but the slight funk in the aroma and somewhat in the taste might put some off and land Hop Notch more in the "solid good" rather than "excellent" rating scale. The carbonation seemed a bit off, yet all in all I recommend this one to try if you enjoy IPAs with a slight malt presence and the hops center stage. Reasonably priced and better than many.

Not quite sure why the Bros. rank this one in the World Class category while dumping all over Kern River Just Outstanding ,which is a far superior IPA to Hop Notch in every respect IMO.
