Poured into a Sam Smith pint glass.

A: Pours a typical golden amber color with average clarity and a fairly vibrant color. An aggressive pour yielded a three finger offwhite color head with average retention and solid lacing. The head retains a lot more strongly away from the inside of the glass.

S: The hops lead the way here, there's a blend of tropical fruits such as mango and passion fruit, some floral notes, and a bit of pine. Hiding behind the hoppiness is a subtle malt backbone.

T: The hop profile on the opening sip is primarily floral/piny in nature - I can tell this one uses Centennial hops. This is a fairly fresh bottle (about 30 days old), so the aforementioned hops haven't degraded to the point where they start tasting soapy. This hop bitterness washes away near the finish to reveal a pleasant caramel maltiness and only a slight hint of butter, giving it a solid (if not amazing) balance. All in all, this is a typical IPA, just done well (and fresh!)

M: Slick bodied, with only minor dryness in the finish. Not quite a palate killer, though you can still feel some lingering bitterness on the tongue.

O: Very solid IPA, but beware that it behooves you to drink it fresh. I got this for a solid price ($9/6 pk.), but I don't know if this would be a go to IPA for me. Still pretty damn good regardless.

12oz bottle, bottled on the march 30th. Freshest IPA ive ever purchased! Less than a week, how did this make it from Utah to Boston.

A: Light Rusty color, quite clear, pours a white medium sized head that looks a bit sticky/thick. Head dies down quick but it leaves a great patchwork wall of lacing.

S: Grassy, Floral, Grapefruit, Maryjane, hint of saltiness/sweatyness, caramel sweetness too. Could smell this as soon as I started pouring. Funky and strong.

T: A punch of Piney/lime hops up front with powdered sugar, then the slightly roasted, rasin, caramel, tobacco malt bill starts to creep, a more typical/tropical pineapple hop flavor comes in strong. Finishes with a lingering bitterness of sour apple, mango. Has that dry asprin like flavor in finish too. A bit tart/asprin-y/metallic for my palate, maybe the finish is a bit too bitter for me.

M: High carbonation, pretty thick/syrupy/oily body. Really coats the walls of your mouth. ABV well integrated.

O: Interesting brew, not your run of the mill IPA. Lot of flavors intertwined here, not one huge flavor dominating. I'm guessing a complex hop bill outside the usual C's. A few flavor notes I wasn't crazy about, but I would still recommend trying this at least once as its certainly unique.

12oz Bottle from the Public House in the Venetian Las Vegas for 8$

Appearance - Slightly hazy amber colour with a large size fizzy/frothy off white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for over 5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, caramel, hops, apricots, grapefruit

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste caramel, hops, and lots of citrus notes. Grapefruit/tangerine/lemons and a touch of an apricot sweetness. It reminded me a bit of a 60min IPA mixed with a Green Flash. It ends with a fruit sweet bitter hop aftertaste.

Overall - Definitely my kind of IPA. Lots of flavour and a great scent and appearance. My bottle was only a few weeks old and the flavours really popped. I saw it at stores for 6.99 for a 6 pack - seems like great value.

12oz Bottle served into o Bells pint glass. Bottled 2 / 29 / 12 making this guy one month old.

A- This beer is a very nice transparent amber color. Reminds me of the sap that the mosquitoes in Jarrasic Park where preserved in. A white two finger head that holds nicely. Strong, thick and sticky lacing.

S- Grapefruit, orange, pine, biscuit, fresh hop aromas and a slight hint of sweet malts. I have had this when it was fresher then this bottle on this review and I think it holds a stronger hop punch the fresher the batch.

T- Good crisp bitter presence. Fresh hop flavors, pine, lime, grapefruit and sweet biscuit. Not very complex but very delicious. I do get some sweet honey malts towards the finish.

M- Spot on. Good carbonation, easy drinking for a %7.3 IPA. It's smooth and easy going down.

O- Again and again I'm impressed by this brewery. I feel like Hop Notch is nothing over the top but by far one of my favorites to pick up a six pack of and I'm always glad to see it on a tap line.

Bottled on 2/29/12.

Appearance: Clear golden orange color with a 1.5 finger head that diminishes rapidly. Solid lacing stuck onto my pint glass.

Smell: Mild citrus hop scent and not much else there.

Taste: Like the nose, subtle citrus hop flavors are most prominent with a malt profile that is more than I expected. Finishes with light bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium mouthfeel and drinkable. No detection of alcohol at all.

Overall: Solid IPA with few distinguishing qualities.

Very nice medium orange color. Great head tiering! Decent head sustainability too. Clarity is only slight off for style.

Nice citrus hop scent. Very light and pleasant on the nose. The scent could stand to be more prominent.

VERY BITTER!!! Much more bitter then the scent represents. Almost tastes like rubber it's so bitter. Not overly resinous. The taste does not live up to the appearance or scent... Super bitter, but well carbonated. Medium body.

Nice work UT! Slightly all over the place, I'd like to see more depth and character in this brew, but it's definitely one I wouldn't shy away from.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass

I like to give basic descriptions.

A- Very light looking

S- Citrus smell. Nice

T- Citrus hops all the way! Awesome! Very refreshing.

M- Very easy to drink, especially with 7.3% ABV.

O- I love this beer. I could drink it all day. Stronger then the average single IPA, yet easier to drink then many IPA's with lower ABV. My favorite session IPA is Racer 5. This is a much cheaper alternative in my opinion.

12oz bottle into tulip snifter.
bottled on 03/09/12.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy off white head.

Pleasant citric hop aroma.

Citric and light pine hops blend well with a light caramel and biscuit malt backbone.

A medium-full body with average carbonation.

An above average IPA. I was very pleasantly surprised with this one and would enjoy it again in the future.

Pours an amber tinted copper with a big foamy white head that sticks around for a bit. Decent retention. Very hoppy aroma. Huge aroma of orange rind, hits you immediately as you open up the bottle and doesn't leave. Kind of one dimensional though. Initial sweet orange hits the tonge, this transitions into a more bitter orange rind middle, the bitterness builds and continues into the finish as it gets a little more earthy. Some of the sweet orange re-introduces itself in the finish. Medium body, sillky mouthfeel. Maybe a touch too bitter for my personal tastes but a fine IPA.

Pours a dull gold color with some orange tint. Nice size white head with good retention and lacing. Very mild citrus hops aroma.

Tastes good!!! Citrus hops, good amount of bitterness, a little grassy hoppiness as well.

Mouthfeel is crisp with a good pronounced hops bite.

Nice hoppy IPA.
