Pours an almost opaque black -- tinges of dark brown and amber decorate the sides of my stein. Upfront notes of roasted malts. Decent two-finger, mocha head.

Roasted notes predominate more than typical for style; bitterness comes less from the hops and more from the roasted grain flavors. Coffee and chocolate notes in the middle, with a slight, but crisp, bite in the end. Medium-light in body and very easy to drink. A hint of cream and citrus linger in the mouth after all is said and done.

Great session beer and would seem to go great with a meat pizza or a nicely charred black n' blue burger. As for a schwarzbier, it strikes me as a bit non-traditional but seems to capture enough of the categorical essence. And it is Baba (Black Sheep) -- so I guess that name fits! (778 characters)

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

LOOK: Nearly full on black, impressive lacing

SMELL: Soft charcoal, milk chocolate, faint oil hop, herbal, toasted bread, dried hay

TASTE: Mild roastiness, smooth, medium bodied, clean, balanced hopping, herbal, faintly salty, brown malt, toasted grapenuts, mildly roasty drying finish

A very sessionable brew, perfect for the winter and is a great substitute if you love Porters. Organic and all if you are into that, and all around great beer. (490 characters)

This is the kind of brew people should consider for a session beer. Low ABV, nice malt character, light roast on the palate, crisp lager finish which is great in hot weather, nicely hoppy without being overly bitter, and doesn't have the watered down quality that is infecting session IPAs left and right. (305 characters)

Super quick review. Uinta really killed it with this lager: full & rich without being filling, complex & deep without being overbearing. Top-notch. (149 characters)

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a medium beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, lager yeast and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready from lager yeast and a hearty roasted malt character. Then some flavors of black coffee and black chocolate come in along with some smokiness in the background. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly smoky.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, very mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style. (841 characters)

L: pitch black with inch of tan foam, very enticing.
S: mild chocolate aroma, some caramel.
T: Modestly bitter, mild chocolate, everything hits the palate and passes a short time later.
F: thin, modestly bubbly
O: this beer is certainly smooth. Its appearance might scare away the weak of heart but don't judge it by its cover, this is true to its lager name. As a stout lover I always have a preference for bolder beers but this is well executed for the style. (462 characters)

Poured from bottle (best by 06/13/14) into a tulip glass

A- pours black with one finger off white brown head, leave good lacing and a lasting cap.

S- roasted/ charred malt, semisweet chocolate that you can easily smell before you put your nose in the glass!

T/M- very light sweetness with a strong bittersweet chocolate and sharp hit of carbonation in the beginning that ends full and smooth. Yum!

O- a great sessions beer that tastes great from the first one to the last, no matter how many you have =] (508 characters)
