Bottled on 12/4/12. 750ml corked & cages bottle poured into a snifter. Pours black with some subtle brown hues; huge fluffy khaki head that fades extremely slow and leaves great lacing and retention. The aromas full of cocoa malts. There's milk chocolate with subtle hints of vanilla. The oak aspects are pretty subtle. The lack of oak might possibly be due to age because I've had other fresh oak-aged beer from Uinita and the oak was extremely harsh. Flavors are pretty dry and roasty. There's also hints of black coffee. Subtle bitterness. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with active carbonation. It's a nice beer to sip on and relax with.
Solid stuff. I would've liked to try this one fresher, but it seemed to age alright. It's definitely a porter and will not be confused with a stout. Nice craftsmanship with this one.

A-Pours very dark. Light doesn't penetrate. Big, doughy, chunky tannish brown head. Head retains and leaves webby lacing.
S-The base Baltic Porter is clearly there. Light vanilla oakiness. Leather, anise, chocolate and bitter roast. A little bit of char and dark fruit.
T-Oak is subtle. Sturdy, lingering yeast. Char and a long black coffee note. Roasty. Cocoa powder. Smokey and darkly fruited. Coffee lingers forever. Cola with a bit of anise.
M-Full but not to the point of feeling viscous. Buzzing carbonation. Some heat.
O/D-Quite enjoyable as a breakfast beer on a chillier morning. I would like a bit more of the wood barrel in the flavor. Overall, little to bitch about with this one.
