I will admit, I am a newbie to sours, and I've always wanted to get into it so i asked the beer store manager to recommend something and he said to start with this one.

Appearance looked like iced tea with bubbles.

It smelled like brown ale with some tart and cherries. Wasn't really blown away.

Tasted like the smell. I understand that the flavors come from bacteria breaking shit down and you get that funkiness, tart, almost a vinegar profile. I definitely tried to get used to it at first. It was hard, but it started to grow on me, and then I got sick of it.

Overall, I tried to think like a sour-beer drinker and see why this would be tasty to someone who knows more about this category of beers... and I still can't see why anyone would rate this beer higher than a 80/100. I'm looking for groundbreaking shit, and although I'm new to sours, this was definitely not groundbreaking shit. 70/100

Poured into a tulip. I'm hoping this is better than the last anniversary.

3.25 A: Mildly hazed deep amber color. Three fingers of fizzy beige head that falls quickly and leaves no lacing.

3.5 S: Interesting nose on this. Never smelled anything quite like it. Starts off with an intense mustiness and I mean intense. Dry-rotten sweat socks through and through. Maybe some basement must, but mostly sweat socks and dry barn wood. Behind that there is cherry and plum fruitiness along with cocoa and something along the lines of lemongrass. Not really any acetic acid in the nose, but there is some lactic.

3.0 T: The taste is nothing like the nose. The first thing you notice is a sharp acidity featuring both lactic and acetic acids, but it isn't too sour. It's still super musty though with sweat socks, basement, and dry wood. Lots of toastiness too with notes of cocoa, peach, plum, apple, and more apple. A touch of tannic astringency. I'm not sure if I like it or hate it.

3.0 M: Light to lighter medium body. Good carbonation level, but it sure is prickly. Lacking creaminess and spritziness. Sour peach finish.

3.0 D: Uinta makes some pretty good beers, but none of them are sours. Oh well, maybe 21st will be better.
