Really don't understand the high rating for this one… Maybe I was poured from a bad keg, or the wrong beer? Ill give it another go, but this was awful.

Vintage: 2013
Appearance: Copper Color; Minimum Head; Minimal Lace
Smell: Grape Juice; Vegetables; Gross.
Taste: Caramel and Melon
Mouth-feel: Medium Body; Lingering Caramel Finish; Smooth
Overall: Gross. Sad Face.

Oh wow, this IPA seems to be infused with magic. The head on this beer lasts for almost 15 minutes (if poured correctly). First of all let me get started on the smell; a very light citrus scent, almost a grapefruit tinge, with overtones of a true pine flavored IPA. The taste is even more delightful than the aroma, featuring a clean not-too-bitter taste with an aftertaste of pine and grapefruit that lingers nicely. In fact, the best lingering aftertaste/mouthfeel after-feel that Ive experienced in any IPA. Mouthfeel: the best. A must grab if you are fortunate enough to find it

750 ml bottle was poured into a large tulip glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a crazy three finger head that reduced to a puffy small layer. It is a copper amber color with good clarity and tiny bubbles seen coming up through the glass.

Smell: Tangerine, citrus, rye, caramel, and some alcohol.

Taste: Citrus comes put first. Tangerine, orange rind, and grapefruit followed by spicy rye, caramel malts, boozy alcohol, and lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, spicy, boozy, medium carbonation, mild bitterness, spicy and medium to full bodied.

Overall: This beer has a nice balance between the hops, rye, and sweetness. Very enjoyable and will search out in the future.

a: On the amber side of golden; pours with a thick, sticky white head.

s: Malt forward with caramel and spicy rye present. Some piney to be found as well.

t: On the sweet side of balanced, but this worked for me. Lots of caramel with some prickly rye keeping it in check. Pine resin and some juicy fruit gum from the hops.

m: Thick and sticky.

o: Glad I got to try this, the world needs more rye beers.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/31/2013. Pours slightly hazy orange copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky cream colored head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, orange rind, pine, floral, caramel, spicy rye, bread, herbal, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop notes with a moderate malt balance and good rye presence; and good strength. Taste of tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, orange rind, pine, floral, caramel, spicy rye, bread, herbal, and floral earthiness. Good amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pine, floral, caramel, spicy rye, bread, herbal, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of hop flavors; with a moderate malt balance with good rye presence, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Double Rye IPA. All around great balance and complexity of hop and rye malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
