Bottle into tulip (date is year 2013, month and day whiped off at some point)

Appearance- Deep Orange/copper, 2 finger off white head, good retention.

Aroma- Very spicy earthy rye snap, a lot of pine, a bready/caramel malt backbone, light citrus notes popping up as well., no real alcohol in the smell.

Flavor- Up front bitterness, pine, spicy, with herbal and earthy notes as wel, almost a woodsy type of feel at the finish, some alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel- Moderate, good carbonation, some alcohol heat

Overall- I enjoyed this beer a lot. Haven't been disapointed in Uinta yet. not sure how fresh it is since the month and day got smudged, but theres a ton of hoppiness in it. The rye could be more pronounced, but a solid choice for rye and hop fans.

Poured from a cork and cage into a shaker pint, the beer is a vibrant, dark, clear, caramel-copper coloring with a tall, frothy, chunky, off-white head that clings to all it touches, and slowly recedes into an uneven surface coating. Aromas of roasted grains, grain dust, tangy caramel, roasty highlights, earthy tones, hints of booze, and a tropical fruit hops highlight. Flavors are roast and grainy on the forward tongue, with a steady booze character that warms and pops at the same time. Robust, smooth bodied, parlaying a boozy and grainy blend throughout the palate. Roasty/toasty blend into the aftertaste, with a solid undertone of booze and rye grain characteristics. This beer reminds me of roaming around the barns and grain silos where I grew up. Wow. Smooth, slick finish with hints of bitterness and subtle dry notes at the very end. Booze is handled well throughout, and hops profiles serve as accent notes at best, and it all totally works. Solid beer.

Poured into the big Ommegang chalice. Beautiful pile of sturdy suds on the coppery amber brew. Intriguing spicy aroma. Nicely carbonated with a rich nose of pepper and flowers.

Overall, the flavor is sharp and spicy. Underneath it all is a warm glow of malt with some lip-smacking sweetness. A really pleasant resiny flavor and a touch of herbs that suddenly reminds me of grass-flavored Ukrainian vodka with the buffalo on the label. Aromatic and pitchy with a mild-mannered but persuasive generosity of hops. Moderately bitter along with more of the resins in the aftertaste. It leaves me wanting more.

Another excellent rye-brewed beer, and another reason to try everything that Uinta puts out.

C&C 750ml bottle, dated 5/17/2013.

A: Pours clear, amber orangish under a solid 2-finger thick off-white head which leaves semi-rings and clumps of lace.

N: Malty, pine, some citrus (orange, lemon, grapefruit).

T: Malty with rye spice, corky wood, herbal with pine resin. ABV is present on warming.

M: Moderate body and semi-full carbonation. Dry, bitter, spicy pine finish.

O: The CTZ hops are not as pronounced as hoped for, so perhaps a fresher bottle would have helped.

Cork and cage 750 bottled 5/30/13 poured into my Delirium glass. A three finger head that leaves lacing all over the glass.

Couldn't smell much rye, but plenty of pine in the nose.

The rye makes it presence known in the taste. It blends nicely with the hops. The alcohol was hidden well in this.

Another beer from Uinta I'm glad I got to try. Their lineup is more than solid.

Poured from a 750ml bottle. Pours a beautiful golden orange/brown (almost bourbon colored) with a good 2 fingers of very lacy, bubbly head. Head fades quickly with a medium lacing.

Initial smell of strong hops hints of pine and lemon with a minor woody smell. Not such a strong grapefruit and eucalyptus you'd expect with the type of hops used. You can definitely tell it is a Rye by the smell though.

Taste is very hop forward with a strong smack immediately as it hits your tongue. That very quickly mellows into the woody, piney, citrus flavor, almost one at time, one after the other. Finishes on a very sharp lemon note. Overall very classic Rye IPA flavor.

You would NEVER guess this beer is almost 10% ABV from the taste. This might be the most drinkable beer I've tried in some time. Found myself longing for that next sip (this my less beer-savvy friends is called "Drinkability)

Overall, if you're looking for something out there and wild, this is not your beer. If you like a classic beer that is Exactly as it should be, then you will love this. A perfect example of a Rye IPA. Somewhat surprised to see Uinta putting out something so classic, especially with there tendencies to take IPA's and tweak them here and there.

Chinchilla!!
