I had to go it to Carry On Convenience Store just to see the selection that a Gas Station/Convenience store. The selection of beer for a Gas Station/Convenience store was the best that I have ever seen. But if you want a bette selection I would suggest other stores in San Antonio, even if it involves some driving. Most of the beers Carry On carries are not sold as single, but in six-packs only. I am staying less then a mile and a half away but would preffer make the 20 to 30 min drive to another location for the better selection and avalability of singles.

Carry On is a Valero-branded convenience store about a block from the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium.

Owners Amin Sarfani and his brother have huge walk in coolers full or macro brews and save much of their regular cooler space for a variety of imports and a selection of American craft brews that are all over the map. For San Antonio, this is an amazing selection.

The had about 40 import bottles that included about every Mexican beer available in Texas, a half-dozen German and Dutch brews including a hefe-weizen. There were 750 ml bottles of Chimay blue and Duvel, Guinness AND Murphy's and a 12-pack of Oranjeboom bottles (never seen that anywhere else in town).

The American craft selection ranged from Shiner Kolsch all the way up to a truly odd find of Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. They also carried Fort Worth's Rahr & Sons' Ugly Pug, Blonde Lager and the Red Lager.

The owner said he plans to add more imported beers in the near future, taking out some of the malternatives that aren't selling so well.
