Thanks to jale for pulling out this growler at the Jackie O's One Funky Afternoon release. Served in a SAVOR snifter.

Pours black with a thin head. The nose is really nice with some mild oak and a good amount of roast. Mild chocolate there as well, with some anise in the background. The anise is really strong and nice as it warms. The flavor is too roasted, dry, and oaky. No real balance between everything. Anise takes a back seat in the flavor. Medium to full body with an extremely dry finish; also fairly tannic. Okay overall. The nose made it really promising.

Another Walldorff beer courtesy of Derek.

Almost black in color with minimal head formation. The aroma is overly boozy with lots of roasted malt notes and a weird smokiness. It’s a bit rubbery, even. Not much better (if any) on the palate. Slightly meaty with notes of smoke and rubber. Heavy on the roasted malts and booze, maybe a little bit of chocolate, too. A light to moderate bitterness on the finish.

Pours thick and dark. A nice viscous consistency. Looks very appealing. Smells rich and malty with a lot of oak on the nose. The aroma is almost overwhelming. Tastes a bit astringent and super oaky but there is a nice malt profile and ome dark fruit flavours that come through. If there was any more oak it would be too much but this... Is fairly solid
