After moving to the Shreveport area this past March, I'd had no luck prowling the internet and local phone books for a good beer store. After two solid months of searching I started asking the local booze shop employees where to find a good beer store. The response was mostly blank stares but one guy steered me to this local liquor store just down the road from his place, called Wine Country. And yes, there is a little bit of heaven in Shreveport.
Mainly a wine shop, this place also has some hard to find Belgian and German brews, many of which are imported by the infamous Shelton Brothers. Dark tint on the windows suggests the owner is serious about the condition of the beer and wine. A small cooler stocks single beers and cheeses.
Only a few craft brews in stock, mostly from New Orleans area brewers ( edit. Jolly Pumpkin arrived here in early Nov ' 06). Prices here are on the high side, but this is by far the best place in town to find specialty brews.

Both Locations visited....
Having been directed to the Line Ave. location by a friend, I found excellent wines and very little beer but was able to pick up some local Great Raft that I had been wanting to try and a recommended bottle of wine. The service was good, two young ladies were very helpful and friendly. They informed me that the beer selection at the other location was much better.
Stopped in the Twelve Oaks store on another pass through the area to find a very nice selection for the region (distribution being what it is in Louisiana.) Everything available from the local Great Raft, as well as a fair portion of the other LA Micros. Some Southern Tier, Clown Shoes, New Belgian, Left Hand, Stone and other quality crafts. Picked up some S.T. Old Man, Crown Valley Gunslinger, White Birch Rusalka and the new Great Raft All My Tomorrows Saison, all at reasonable prices. The two guys there were super, obviously devoted to improving the availability of craft beer in the area and quite knowledgeable without any arrogance.
I'll certainly visit the Twelve Oaks location again when in the area and highly recommend it to anyone looking for craft beer in S'port!

A: nice establishment that is mostly focused on wine with a small beer section
Q: quality was pretty good and while they had some macro the majority of their selection was craft
S: service was pretty good and I was asked if I needed any help
S: They had some good variety but some of their stuff doesn't seem to move. They still had a couple bottles of Pumking. As a new arrival into the distro map of Southern Tier I picked up a bottle
F: I didn't notice if they had any food
V: Price was on par with everywhere else. Definitely not outlandish

This place is under new management and their selection has gone through the roof. They've got tons of good craft stuff including but not limited to Brash, Clown Shoes, New Belgium, Saint Arnold, Tin Roof, Slumbrew, Cambridge Brewing, and one of my favorites Squatter's Outter Darkness. They usually get the rare small batch and seasonal stuff too. Picked up Saint Arnold's Bishops Barrel 1 & 2 from them & some New Belgium Lips of Faith stuff that I couldn't find at any other local places. They have tons of killer imports too. Even had BLACK ALBERT! The guys that are there regularly are super down to earth and helpful. Love to talk brews too. You guys have got to check out their selecion at the new location. Its moved from the listed Ashley Ridge location over to a new spot off of Flournoy Lucas in front of the Twelve Oaks subdivision (not sure of actual address). A+++ for this store. CHECK IT OUT!

This review is for the cafe on line rd. I had dinner at the bar during happy hour. While no beer is on special, wine and spirits are. I got a weihenstephaner hefe and a rogue dead guy. Both poured into a cold pint...ugh. the selection isnt amazing or even that great but some nice randoms and locals. The food is really good. I had the truffle risotto and it was really good. Nice looking place and super busy...it seems like THE place in Shreveport. Good value on the beer...about $5 a bottle. Food was a bit high but it was good. Service was quick and good. Id deff come back.

This is a review for the other Wine Country location on Line Ave
I assume the other location has a better selection but as this location has some sort of area dedicated to beer as well as what they consider a large beer selection at the bar it is worth reviewing.
Very enjoyable atmosphere at the bar, nice decor, this is a really nice place. The bottle shop is well designed as well, for wine. The lone beer shelf was situated behind tables where people were eating so that was a big drawback.
Quality was fine, 4 month old SN pale at the bar is pretty good for Louisiana and the other beers weren't expired either and were kept cold.
Service at the bar was pretty good but when I was in the "bottle shop" I was given some dirty looks for asking where the beer was. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal but our waitress was pretty inattentive to our table even as the night slowed down.
Selection at the bar was decent: Paulaner Hefe, Schneider Hefe, Rouge Shakespeare and a few other craft and import selections. The alleged bottle shop was absolutely terrible, I was a bit disgusted. Two different Urthel brews, Delirium Tremens and Abita Golden, that's it. Oh sorry, they had the nerve to put singles of Bud Light Golden Wheat and two different Smirnoff Ices as well.
The food was excellent though: Truffled Macaroni, whipped potatoes, and a perfectly cooked piece of chicken. My friend's steak was a bit under cooked, but no big deal.
$32 for 1 beer and an entree with tax is a bit much but it was a very nice place, beer prices were pretty average for a bar and with the quality of the food you could have expected them to be more expensive. Bottles were pricey too though.
This is a place that I would recommend to anyone looking for a fine dining experience in Shreveport but as a bottle shop this place misses the mark.

As the name implies, this is not a beer shop. Don't let that stop you from seeking it out. Wine Country is a quality bottle shop with a better-than-average selection of imports no matter where you normally shop. If you take the selection in the rest of town into account, they are an A+....
Others have covered the brands, and they have not changed much. Nice selection of imports, and a decent if small collection of American craft brewers. What surprised me on this trip was the fantastic selection of seasonal / Christmas beers, which I didn't expect given what must be a small market for craft beer. The staff on this day was also very beer-knowledgeable and engaging.

really the only quality selection in shreveport. troegs/jolly pumpkin/a few rogue/and now bear republic beers available. ayinger and a few other german imports and the usual british choices await you. chimay/la trappe/and a smattering of belgians most of the time. price is reasonable for the only gane in town. i've been able to special order and have been happy with the service. happy that this place is there and hope that interest peaks so that they are able to expand our choices. forgot to mention that the beer is always well-cared for including u.v minimizing placement.
