We stopped in here a few years ago when went to Yakima to do some wine tours. Bert's was a great addition to our trip. It was a full house the night we went. The little mall above it is fine, the building is quaint. I like the rustic feel, and the pub itself was quite rustic with nice rugged wood and a good decor. Server was friendly, gave us good insight into the beer and wine selection. I had a good porter, wife had a good local cabsav. The food was good, nothing real unique, but my prime rib was just the way I like it.
This was a nice alternative to less-impressive chains. A jewel in the heart of Yakima. I'll be sure to go back the next time we do Yakima wineries.

This was a nice clean establishment located in the basement of a boutique mall. It was well lit and the service was friendly, prompt and helpful. We ordered a variation on an appetizer and the waiter did not balk at all at our 'special' request. The food menu was filled with the expected appetizers and sandwiches. I was somewhat surprised at the extensive selection of salads. The beer menu included 16 beers on tap of which 14 were from NW micro breweries (one macro and one import from Mexico). One of the micros was tapped out (a fruit concoction that I was unlikely to order) and the remainder were NW standards for the most part. The beer was fresh and the experience capped off an enjoyable trip to Yakima.

Bert's is owned by some local hop growers that supply one of the major brewers. Consequently the beers from the other two major brewers are not available here. The owners got permission from Bert Grant's family to use his first name, an homage of sorts. With the demise of Grant's Brewing and Malting there is no Grant's beer to be found but they do have a nice selection of Northwest breweries on tap. They also have a nice variety of local wines for the winos. It is definitely an upgrade from a sports bar or chain restaurant bar.
