Pours a golden straw with mild head and decent lacing. Smells of grains, bitterness, and lemony freshness. Tastes crisp and grainy and bitter with some decent complexity, but the flavors just don't blend well in my opinion. If offered to me, I'll drink this, but I'm not going out of my way to get it.

Appearance - Clear, very pale yellow and fizzy, not much head. Standard appearance for a pale lager.

Smell - A little bready malts, some grass and hops. More nose than most pale lagers.

Taste - Crisp, a touch of hops, clean and grassy. A bit of skunk in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Highly carbonated, thin, and smooth.

Drinkability - Extremely high.

Notes - It's hard not to drink this fast. It's one of the best easily-found lagers out there. I'm not big on keg parties, but if I were to throw one, this might be the keg of choice.

taste: i consider this a simple beer. brewed for the masses. if someone offered this or most any other kind of pilsner, i would take this. theres flavors of honey and lemon and grain, all the usual i guess. the lack of head isnt very exciting but it's what i was expecting. it's far from a disappointment but also far from the top of any list.

A: A rich golden-yellow color with a decently sized frothy and creamy white head. Retention is above average, and there is some solid lacing. Active carbonation bubbles.

S: Clean grains, some faintly grassy hops. Light lemon and white grape scents as well.

T: Somewhat sweet and grainy, with herbal and lemony hops. Some grape as well.

M: Crisp and very clean. Medium-to-light body, with a slightly astringent finish.

D: This is good, if a bit run-of-the-mill. Quite drinkable, this would be easy to session.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass

A - Straw yellow with champaign-like bubbles supporting a two finger white fizzy head that subsides to a thing lace rather quickly.

S - Straw and lightly sweet malts. Some corn husk in the background.

T&M - Smooth yet drying mouthfeel with a very clean taste. Taste of bread and mildly sweet malt with a low-moderate hop bitterness. Very nice and drinkable. No unpleasant aftertaste.

Spaten Premium Lager pours a clear light gold with lots of bubbles and a thin white head. Lots of noble hops on the nose with some skunk in there. Some toast also.

The flavor is mostly buttered toast with a pop of hops on the quick finish. Mouthfeel is medium/thin and a bit fizzy.

Not a super beer, but a good reflection of this style.

This beer is amazing! It is what got me into the finer beers. Before I had a Spaten, my preconceptions of beer was that nasty stuff that is branded with names such as Miller and Budweiser. Not being a snob, but come on, can those brands really compare to this?! I absolutely love this beer!!!

Appearance - Pours clear and golden with a thin head and little lacing. Very nice looking. Some complain about the head and lacing but I don't look at beer...I drink it.

Smell - This is what a beer should smell like. The only way to describe it would be fresh and kinda grain like. No smell is particularly dominant.

Taste - Clean! Purity Law takes a bit of a new meaning with this one. This is very refreshing. Everything feels like it is in perfect balance with each other. I wish I could describe it better then just clean but it does have a little bitter bite at the end that is great.

Mouthfeel - Remember that thin head and little lacing? It is in there but it comes out in the mouthfeel. A bigger head means that the carbonization is wasted there instead of coming out in the mouthfeel. It has just the right amount of carbonization...if you poured it right that is.

Drinkability - Holy hell! This beer is very smooth, goes down very easy, does not fill me up, and does not disappoint. Each sip is better then the last and I can easily finish off a bottle and then plow through a few more. As long as it continues to find my mouth, then I am still drinking it. Spaten is to beer as Lay's is to potato chips...I can't have just one!

Get you some and enjoy with friends.

12 oz green bottle. Consumed at a Christmas party with assortment of other beers.

Straw yellow color with white head. Impressive lacing.

Malts. There are some faint hops here, and maybe some citrus.

Great taste and mouthfeel. There is a good balance with the malts and hops (the hops are barely noticeable) and it works well with the carbonation. Medium body.

Very drinkable. Especially after you've had many other beers in a holiday party environment. Don't get carried away though.

Poured into a pilsner.

A: Bright golden in color. Medium-heavy carbonation pours into a giant 3 finger, white, frothy head. Little peaks and valleys appear as the head settles slowly into a thin layer of bubbles on the surface, leaving intricate lacing as it does. Leaves pretty strong lacing as you drink. Carbonation continues to rise after initial poor, and slowly lessens in density.

S: Light malt, light hops, hint of baked bread and peat.

T: Nice malty flavor with hops.

M: Light malty start, dry hoppy finish. Pungent aroma filters up into the nose as you drink.

D: Light palette, but flavorful.

This brew is refreshing, and flavorful for this style, in my opinion. Complex aroma. Overall, good atmosphere, nice finish. Solid quaff.

This is not a favorite hells lager.

Pours a clear bright yellow color with a fluffy bubbly white head that is very fleating.

The aroma is very nutral. Nothing much going on. Just light in every way.

The flavor is the same as above.

Mouthfeel is light.

Don't drink unless it's for an added review.

Reviewed on 6/15/08. On tap. Pours a light golden with good carbonation, small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, some light fruits. Flavor of wheat, skunk, sweet malt. I didn't really like this and it had a funny taste that was sort of skunky. Wouldn't get again.

I realize I am new to beer, but I love this one! So smooth & easy. It is a lovely color with great bubbles. It drinks very easy with a good mouth feel. I originally had it in a German restaurant with an order of spaetzle. I have had it since without food just as an evening beer & was still very pleased.
I only wish it didn't have to be special ordered where I live...

Intense golden yellow color, quite carbonated, with an average foam, not very longstanding.
Definte malty notes in the smell, with some biscuit.
Same for the taste, malty, but with a secondary light hint of hop.
Honest beer, easily drinkable.
Same notes again in the aftertaste, with strong maltness, biscuit, and some hop.

Pours a crystal clear straw gold. Good amount of bubbles rising from the bottom. Large 2-finger foamy white head. Pretty good retention, and so-so lacing.

Smells pretty astringent. Some corn scents coming through, mixed with some of the floral hops scent.

This tastes like a lager, albeit a good lager. There's nothing here that's that unique. Low hop bitterness. Nice malt backbone. Starts with a slight metallic twang that fades after the first few sips.

Crisp clean brew. Decent amount of carbonation. High drinkable quality, but I'd move on to more flavorful beers after this.

This is a good, solid helles, but not near the top. It has zesty, light hoppy bitterness on a nice bready, malty base.

Bright gold, it has a medium, creamy white head that steadily shrinks to a thin wispy top and leaves only a faint hint of lace.

The aroma has a strong bready-grain character, with flowery-herbal hops. It has a lot of bread and herbs with a hint of lemon.

The taste s zesty with bread and herbs with some toasted grain and lemon. It's somewhat soft and creamy, yet zesty, lightly sweet with a faint hop bite, and a crisp, almost tangy, faintly lemony-herbal finish. It's quite drinkable, but not nearly as good as some others.

Appearance - Light golden in color with a somewhat fluffy white head that dies to a film quickly, but stays in that film throughout.

Smell - Sweet, almost candy-like malt with a touch of corn in the smell.

Taste - Light maltiness with a touch of hop bitter. Sweet coming from somewhere on this one, and it finishes an even mix of the sweet/hop bitter.

Mouthfeel - Light and too much carbonation.

Drinkability - Not too bad here, rather easy to drink. Might become a go-to choice when I need a lager.

I got this beer in a sampler.

Nose is grainy and hoppy.

This beer poured a nice clear yellow with a medium white head.

The taste is fresh and clean with some grain, hops and a little citrus.

Mouth feel is nice and bubbly. This beer is very easy to drink and could be one of the better session beers. I really enjoyed this beer.

I picked up a six pack of this classic German beer on a beer run today, I've been looking for it for awhile but its not sold at any of the area grocery stores I frequent. On opening and pouring into my trusty Schlafly Pale Ale pint glass I got the classic German lager smell. Color is a nice straw yellow, with a small head that dissipates somewhat quickly leaving a ring with some lacing that lasted. Taste was hoppy bite up front, a little bitter but very pleasant. This beer is very crisp, dry, and cleanses the palate. Very refreshing. Overall this is one of the best German Lager's I've had and I can see drinking a lot more of this now that I know where to get it. My old standby for this type of beer was Becks, but this is a better beer. Time to work on the rest of that six pack...

Straw colored with very little head. Aroma is floral and spicy. Very clean smelling, (in good way)
Taste is bitter up front, and then has a crisp and extremely dryfinish. Mouthfeel is light. This is a really great example of the classis style, it better be since it's made by the Germans!
This is a real easy drinker. Would go well with spicy foods or meat.
This would be a good standy to keep in the fridge.

Served up on-tap at The Pizza Joint in Evans, GA.

Appearance is a vibrant, clear yellow with a full two-finger creamy white cap that fizzles somewhat slowly and leaves behind little lacing on the glass.

Produces a bright, floral bouquet with some faint sweet malt aroma mixed in.

Nice light, crisp mouthfeel. Tastes lightly of sweet grains up front with a nice balance of herbaceous hop bitterness in the middle and finishes with a lingering, slightly unpleasant bready sweetness.

Quite a refreshing brew. Drinkability is top notch; I could easily quaff this all night long and not tire of it.
