Poured from a green 12 oz. bottle. Has a very pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is skunky, not much else. Taste is crisp, slightly sweet, rather bland. Not a lot going on here. Feels light in the mouth and has good drinkability. Overall this is a fairly mediocre beer.

Pours a nice golden yellow and a nice white head that left a nice sticky lacing around the Spaten tall glass. Aromas of a nice sweeter malt. The taste of a above average German lager. Sweet where it needs to be, and a bit dry. A small hop bitterness is in the aftertaste.

A: This one pours golden with a large white head that dissipates a little to quickly.
S: The malt is prominent but there is also bitter hops and some fruit (citrus). This beer smells really fresh.
T: Very malty, almost like liquid bread. This is a beer that's very refreshing. The dryness is also noticable.
In the aftertaste the bitter hops just keeps on coming.
M: This is light in the mouth, with a nice amount of carbonic acid.
D: Refreshing, very refreshing. The taste is very nice. This is what you should drink on a warm summer day. I had it with a pizza - it was very nice.

12 oz green bottle pours a crystal clear, light yellow color with a rapidly diminishing cap of white foam. Not all that unlike many American macros unfortunately.
Nose is much better as slightly honeyed malts combine with a grassy and somewhat floral hop bouquet. Fresh and clean smelling beer.
One of those beers where a twelve pack disappears before you know it. Noble hop flavors and mild bitterness battle to a standstill with slightly sweet, grainy malts. Very clean with no off-flavors whatsoever. This probably is not my favorite Helles (Hofbrau gets that distinction), but it is a prime example of what the style is all about.

Intense golden yellow color, quite carbonated, with an average foam, not very longstanding.
Definte malty notes in the smell, with some biscuit.
Same for the taste, malty, but with a secondary light hint of hop.
Honest beer, easily drinkable.
Same notes again in the aftertaste, with strong maltness, biscuit, and some hop.

Appearance This one is a nice, deep yellow with a huge, pillowy head. The head is like lumps of shaving cream and leaves some beautiful lacing on the inside of my glass.
Smell The Munich Lager aroma is very pleasing. The grain is easy on the olfactory bulb. This is one mellow nose.
Taste The light grain from the nose turns a bit orangish at the taste. This is a very even flavor. The hops are done just right and provide excellent balance.
Mouthfeel This big lager is medium-bodied and heavy. The carbonation is light and feels terrific. This one also packs a huge dry wallop at the end.
Drinkability This Helles Lager is a bit rough around the edges but good and very drinkable. Its a classic.

Appearance – Clear light yellow colour with an average size fizzy white coloured head. There is a below average amount of carbonation showing and there is a fair amount of lacing. The head lasted for around 2 minutes before it was gone.
Smell - Grains, corn, malts, floral notes, hops
Taste & Mouth - The beer has a high amount of carbonation. I can taste breads/grains mixed with light hops and some cooked corn. There is also a decent amount of malts and a light floral spiciness. The beer finishes with a grainy spicy aftertaste.
Overall – It's definitely better than most of the run of the mill euro-beers out there. But there are a few other beers in this category that I'd rather be drinking.

12oz bottle into a guinness pint glass.
Pours a crisp golden color with a 1 inch white head. Nice fruity, refreshing smell. you know this beer will go down smooth. Taste is as anticipated from the nose, lemony with a perfect mix of hops and malts. a tad bitter, very good. on the lighter side of medium bodied and the lighter side of medium on the carbonation.
Overall just a good, enjoyable beer. Nothing world class but it's just solid and a brew I think almost any kind of palate would enjoy.

Almost completely clear yellow color; had a very slght haze. Head was soft and full, but didn't hold; stayed tight to the surface for a bit, then dissapated.
Sweet maltiness in aroma, very light hops. Too one-sided with donimance of malt and hint of something so light I couldn't identify it (cloves?).
A very well-balanced beer with pleeasantly sweet maltly taste. Crips and clean like you might expect from the style.
Light body, nice carbonation and very dry feel.

12oz green bottle
L - golden colored body, precisely clear, with a creamy, white head that slowly fades to a foam
S - light struck, grass, biscuit, spicy noble hop
T - crisp and clean, impeccable balance, grassy spicy hops, biscuity grain, faint light struck hop taste
F - creamy and smooth, ample carbonation, finishes clean
O - slightly tainted by the green bottle light effect, but still very enjoyable.

Pours a pale metallic gold, clear colour but the slightest hint of haze. Slow carbonation bead trailing up to a snowy white head that's sunk to a thin film, leaving some nice sticky lacing around. Looks quite good, I guess.
Smells grainy, with a sweet alcohol kind of aroma. Pearl barley notes with a touch of honey and some corn characters as well. Some unpleasant bready notes but a fairly pleasant hop character backing up with some earthy sourness. Not enough, though, to cover that yeasty note. Not bad, but bland.
Taste is a little unpleasant at times. Mild maltiness on the front with some barley and corn balanced with a touch of honey. This evolves into bready grain on the mid with a yeasty note that doesn't last. Finish is largely phenolic with a real medicinal hop character. Too pungent, really, to be overly clean and doesn't contrast well enough to knock out the sweetness which continues to the finish. Once I adjust to the flavour, it becomes a milder but it could be a lot cleaner and better balanced.
Feels alright in the mouth, there is a spice to the back, body is a bit over-full and could be crisper, but sits quite well with me otherwise.
Yeah, palatable enough once you get over that medicinal finish. But nothing special.

Bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a rather pale gold with a disappearing froth of white fizz. Aroma is earthy and grainy with a hint of caramel and some mustiness. Definitely a bit more to this than the appearance would indicate. Soft malty flavor, mostly grainy, some light breadiness, mild grassiness. I'm liking the lack of a strong metallic character which a lot of German lagers have. This is very crisp and finishes dry. One of the better pale lagers around.

Presentation: Picked up a mixed 6-Pack of Spaten Optimator and Premium Lager at Trader Joes. The Premium Lager comes in a 12 fluid ounce green glass bottle with a rather plain looking main label.
Appearance: One word, Lager! Pale golden color that has a thick white foam like head that settles to a thin collar, some lacing.
Nose: Some grain, a hint of stale hops and, well, ermm, not much else really.
Taste: I am finding it very hard not to slip into the usual deluge of descriptive Lager similes and explanatory statements that have been written a thousand times before. Some bitterness towards the back end, crisp but desperately thin. *Very* average,
Mouthfeel: I kept searching, but found this to be rather thin to be honest, not quite wishy, but certainly washy at times, so much so it even had a light washing-up liquid feel to it on the tongue, soapy almost rather off-putting.
Drinkability: Its a decent enough drink, which sinks well, but with its inoffensive nose and average taste profile, as well as its light mouthfeel, thats not really that much of a surprise really. A good thirst quencher though.
Overall: I found this to be a rather average Lager at best to be brutally honest. There are certainly plenty of other similarly priced Lagers, German or otherwise, that are way up my shopping list that I would purchase before this one again. Lacks character.
After the Oktoberfest and the Optimator, I was disappointed.

Straw yellow in color with lots of brightness through its completely clear body, this beer develops a soft clean white head on top that peaks at just less than one finger. It holds up pretty well and manages sturdy patching that eventually drops to spotting but continues to cling pretty well.
Grains up front hold with a pale malt with a lemony tang that's balanced by some grass and herb hops notes.
A lightly sweet beer is kept in check by a dry/doughy biscuit malt, some green grape and red apple mostly. Lemon comes in to add another dimension with zest, and the hops are grassy and herbal as in the nose.
This beer is light, clean and refreshing all around. It has a strong carbonation that isn't allowed to get out of control even with a crispness that never stops biting; as such, it's fluffy in the mouth while biting. It has just a little dryness to balance the feel. It starts off grainy but ends clean.

An average, yet solid, German Helles.
Served up bright golden as expected. White head settled out quickly.
Nose is faintly malty and sweet. Touches of spicy hops.
Taste is comprised mostly of (very lightly-) caramel drizzled breadiness. Quietly grainy. A quick jab of spicy hops finishes things. Nothing else is noted.
Not complex in the least, but a decent session choice.
Light-medium in the mouth with steady rolling carbonation. Brainlessly quaffable.
Agreeable, yet remarkably average. But there is nothing here to criticize. If US macros were anything like this, I'd still drink them.

appearance: The thin, bone white head quickly recedes. The color of the beer is an extremely pale straw blonde. One of the lighter colored beers I've seen.
smell: Spicy, clean german hops. Clean light malts. The smell is pleasing and unoffensive, but also somewhat boring.
mouthfeel: Carbonation is pretty high, and the body on the heavier side of the lighter range.
taste: A light maltiness offset by spicy, light hops. A decent German pilsener, but nothing to get excited about.
drinkability: pretty drinkable
