Imported from my ratebeer.com profile - SEP 26, 2007

Deep, almost amber orange color. Poured a thick white head that stuck around until the bottom of the glass. A tart, sweet, yeast and wheat smell. Tastes pretty much like it smells, banana and cloves are distinguishable but not overwhelming. Pretty carbonated but goes down great, very refreshing.. one of the better hefeweizens I have had.

12 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: A one finger head wad poured that reduced to a puffy layer. It is a hazy pale orange with vision of tiny bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Bready, banana, clove, spice, and vanilla.

Taste: Traditional Bavarian yeast with bready and vanilla notes from the malts.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, refreshing, chewy, and medium carbonation.

Overall: It's been awhile since I have had this. Enjoyable and classic beer.

One of my favorite Weiss beers. Up there with the Weihenstephaners, Ayingers and Andechers. Has more of a spicy flavor than other Weiss beers as I get more copper/metal from the hefe (that's yeast in english). The appearance is cloudy and golden like a great weiss beer. Mouthfeel is tangy and smooth at the same time. Taste is a touch spicier and sweeter than other weiss beers such as Hacker and Paulaner. That's a positive. I love this beer and so should you.
When Bayern Munich play in the Champions League, I drink these bad boys all match long (about 3 to 4 half-liters) at the local bar that has it on tap. The monk on the bottle? That's an original art-deco Ludwig Hohlwein painting from the '30s. Oh yeah, they don't call it "Hefe Weizen" in Bavaria. It's called Weissbier! Now you know and order accordingly when you're next in Munich!
