Although meant to be enjoyed from a mug, I poured this into a New Belgium snifter for nosing and tasting. The pour is very nice-looking. It is a clear, orange-amber color with two fingers of sudsy head. Unfortunately, selling this beer in green glass bottles hasn't done much for the nose. I definitely pick up some skunky tones amidst the malt and spices.

The beer has no body at all and the mouthfeel is paper-thin for this style. I don't get much malt at all. I get a watery, lemony drink that tastes like beer and iced tea. There is none of the chewyness or breadiness that one finds in a good Oktoberfest. It doesn't taste bad, but it's as bland as bland can be. It's as if Budweiser tried to make an Oktoberfest and this is the result.

I don't know what this brewer is trying to pull by calling this an Oktoberfest, but I sure as hell won't be fooled again. I never thought I'd say this, but I've tasted American Oktoberfests (like Great Lakes' offering) that demolish this German Oktoberfest. This is a travesty of a beer and is not worthy of a German label. The brewers who made this should be ashamed of themselves. Avoid.

Sampling right now on 4/13/14. Had this one many years ago on draught and it was great. Comes in a nice colorful 12 ounce bottle. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees in my beer cooler and poured into a pilsner flute glass.

Pours a pretty darker amber in color with about a 1-finger of a off-white head. Lacing was seen with each sip. The aroma is of caramel malts with a hint of light citrus. The taste is of sweet malts, biscuit (yeast) with some spice. Very tasty and goes down easy. A very light dry finish is noted. Overall, really like this one and not a big fan of Oktoberfest brews for the most part but this one is the exception for sure.

Pours translucent amber with 1/2 inch of off-white head that fades to a thin cap on top and leaves nice spotty lace.

Smell is somewhat muted and consists of grainy malt, Autumn spices and faint citrus.

Taste is of grains and malt with accents of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg with faint tart citrus on the finish.

Texture is medium bodied with high carbonation.

A decent, if not remarkable, effort. Easy drinking and sessionable.
