Presentation: Tall 16.9 oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: Fastidious foaming, nearly uniform bubbled head with a good retention. Hazed leather brown, a few bubbles race to the top here and there.

Smell: Dry malt aroma with a wheat twang. Dried bananas, powdery clove, mild esters, touch medicinal with an earthy yeast is only a quick brushing in the nose.

Taste: Flexed medium body with a mild crispness that draws on a full and smooth mouth feel. The dry malt character is complexly layered with a toasted malt then a pale huskiness and finally and wheat malt twang. Very soft clove, light banana fruitiness and a subdued alcoholic ester barely brake things up. After that dull excitement it is back to the dry malt character but in a really dry way. Even the yeast flavour is placid with a chalky earth flavour.

Notes: A decent dunkel weiss, not as expressive as others but just as nurturing as the rest. The malt is the show it seems, all of the other flavours are meek in comparison but this does not take away from the brew too much because it still has the lovely wheat twang.

Poured from a bottle into a Weizen glass.

A - Pours a very murky, muddy water brown, with copper highlights. Two-fingers of white head, which dissipated quickly. Little lacing.

S - Mild aroma of banana, clove, and baked bread.

T - Definite Hefe banana/clove elements. Bready malts present themselves in the mid-palate lending a hint of gingerbread. Just enough German yeast funk to make things interesting. Some mineral salts in the finish. Tasty.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Wet, soda-like finish.

O - A solid Dunkelweizen. Maybe not the best...but it's up there.

Poured from bottle into my tulip glass... mahogany tones with a full finger of white head. Didn't last long. The aroma had some banana, spice (nutmeg?), and a bit if a bready/yeasty note. The tastes were in line with the aroma, and I mentioned at least once or twice that it had some of the same taste profiles as a banana-nut bread... and again, a hint of spice. Good carbonation and a smooth overall mouthfeel to this brew. Overall, I thought that this was a nice beer, nice change of pace from my go-to IPAs and stouts, and well-crafted. Quite a good deal for the big bottle at around 3 bucks. Glad to be expanding my beer horizons a bit, and this was a nice stop along the road. Try it!

A - Cloudy dark, dark brown with a slightly off-white head that disippates quickly and leaves a very short lace.

S - Much like their Hefe but more subdued and with some malty notes.

T - More subdued banana and clove that is very adeptly balanced by malted grain. Hops are just there.

M - Full yet a little crisp somehow.

O - A really well balanced weissebier. I prefer my dunkels to be a bit lighter brown. All in all, this was just a good, well-rounded beer.. I was hoping it would be a great hot summer lawn mowing beer. I'll probably drink it as an early autumn refresher, though.
