Pours a massive, light beige head expected for the style. Long retention, and thick foamy lacing. Brew is a dark nut brown, slightly hazy.

Banana aroma for days while pouring! Sweet and nutty, like banana bread. A little sharp wine-like vinegary quality seeps through as it warms, along with a hint of aspirin and a tiny bit of caramel, but mostly the yeast dominates, followed by wheat.

Flavor is similar to the nose: sweet, nutty, bready, and banana-y, with just a tinge of sour, overripe dark fruit. and caramelized brown sugar.

Surprisingly thin body for the color, but not for a Hefe. Long, thick and sticky finish. A little too much sting to allow to swish and chew, but very refreshing.

This is a nice option for a refreshing Summer Hefe, when you're also in the mood for something a little more darkly sweet.

Franziskaner's Dunkel.

A: Completely opaque, tamarind-like color. Dull yellow in the dimple. Less than half a finger of head, fades quickly to almost nothing. Thin arc of lacing.

S: Banana peel, and banana bread, mostly. Some molasses.

T/MF: More banana peel. Very crisp. There's a slight spice note in the back, the strengthens a little into the finish. There's a toasted wheat flavor (like toast), as well, but it's fairly light.

This one is not bad, but nothing special. A nice alternative to traditional hot day beers.

Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle, into a Belgian tulip glass.

Looks like tea or slightly watered down cola. Caramel brown in color, a bit clearer than I like. The head is quite attractive as its extremely thick, retains well, and is slightly offwhite. No real lacing.

It's got a spicy scent, which masks the traditional hefe smells that are trying to get out. Can you say, wheat forward.

The taste is pleasant enough. Very biscuity with a hint of spicy. Wheaty.

Nice simpleness to the feel. A bit sweet from the caramel malts before the tangy wheat turns it to the spicy side. Very dry, almost mouth puckering finish.

The Germans have been making beer for a billion years and the results speak for themselves. Very easy to drink because it's good.
