I poured this 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass. No freshness dating.
A: clear, cherrywood color, one-finger head quickly falls into a good cap with decent lacing.
S: candied fruit, sweet malt, spice, hint of Germanic yeast funk.
T: sweet cherries, raisins, and sweetbread up front, the middle has a bit of yeasty funk, some vanilla, brown sugar, and a hint of earthiness, the finish has a lingering woody note mixed with a floral/herbal hop note. Very tasty.
M: medium to full bodied, silky to syrupy texture, moderate but nicely prickly carbonation.
D: a damn good Dopplebock. I will definitely get this again.
