12oz bottle into tumbler, no BB date.
Pours a beautiful brown that reveals notes of red when held to the light. Head on the pour is quite nice and even has some bubbles cascading downwards, nice. Head goes down to a slight ring after a relatively short amount of time, even the rings goes away. First smell to hit is the "lager smell." Has a very prominent malty/grainy sort of smell. The taste is deliciously malty featuring some light roasted notes, some hop spiciness and a tiny bit of alcohol near the finish. Mouthfeel is medium weight and medium carb, features a sharpness in the initial feel.
This is an excellent lager that is very malty. I've really found myself enjoying dark lagers lately and this one is exceptional. Surprisingly drinkable and hides its slcohol well. Only thing that bothers me at all is the sharp, metallic mouthfeel.

Pours very dark brown, very poor tan head that goes to a very thin lace in seconds.
Smell is very nutty (peanut, Brazilian nut, faint almond, cashew), with caramel, some faint sugar, roasted grains, low dark fruit and tiny bit of skunk.
Taste starts with sweet dark malts and caramel, a bit fruity with some apricots, plums, raisin, faint sweet cherry. Toffee follows, sweet dark bread, spices with clove, cinnamon, faint licorice and anise, hints of honey. Touch of roast and light coffee in the finish, lots of (somewhat minty) herbs and a mild hoppy bitterness.
Very light bodied for its style, a bit syrupy tho, medium carbonation. Aftertaste is damaged by some cloying syrupy sweetness and a bit of booze, otherwise quite fruity.
A weirder doppelbock, highs and lows, so it falls somewhere in between.
