Have visited Sprague Farm & Brew Works on several occasions as I travel through the area for business.
I find SF & BW quite unique in many respects. First is the location. It's in the middle of nowhere, quite literally. A brewpub in a barn surrounded by open fields. It's a nice, relaxing setting.
Once inside you'll find a warm glow brought on by the combination of wood floors and ceiling, some stained glass and copper accents on the walls. The ceiling is tall and arching, and the space features a large stage off to one corner. I find the regular live music engaging.
The food menu is limited, but good quality. The kitchen generally closes about 8 pm, so get it while you can.
The beers are well crafted, and they always seem to have 6 to 8 draft lines pouring at all times with a combination of regulars and seasonals. Local wines are offered by the glass for those so inclined. Prices are very reasonable.
There's a definite "local" vibe, but that's understandable given the rural location. I have found the family and staff personable and engaging. Even the musicians are approachable while on break.
Outside the barn is surrounded by a deck with chairs and benches, perfect for enjoying nicer weather and looking out over the fields. You'll also find a variety of chainsaw carvings around the property, as owner Brian is a renowned chainsaw artist.
Overall, I highly recommend this brewpub. If you can find it, it's definitely worth the stop.

Without a doubt one of "those" places you just have to visit. Whether you enjoy the smaller brewpub atmosphere, or a more main stream micro brewery, Spragues offers a unique and friendly place to enjoy friends and flavor. I've never had a bad experience, or a bad beer. And it's pretty cool that you will almost always see Minnie and Brian walking around talking with everyone.

I just made a 2nd visit to SF&BW, having been there in 2009 while visiting family nearby. At the time of my initial visit, the renovated barn ["Beerhalla"] which serves as the tap room, dining and performance area was still in process and I recall too, that the Spragues' license wasn't yet final and they were offering samples of their work on a pro-bono basis. I'm happy to report that all of the heavy lifting has been done the barn's been transformed into a very appealing venue to enjoy the Spragues' good works. They've also added food to their offerings, which I didn't try on this visit. I did have a very tasty rye-style IPA, a robust amber and a grand Scottish ale which all pointed to the Spragues continuing commitment to quality beer in addition to providing a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

While it's off the beaten path, you will be well rewarded by making a stop here when your travels take you to Northwest Pennsylvania.

Sprague Farms is a nice brewery located in a woodsy area outside of Meadville known as Venango. The building is really awesome. Its an old barn and they built a newer building which is their beer hall. They also do a lot of Wood working and wood carving outside the brewery. Pretty cool stuff. Great atmosphere.

The building inside has room for sitting and has a little stage for music acts. The newer beer hall is twice the size of the old farm house with a bigger stage.

It is a cool atmosphere and the head brewer / bartenders are always willing to talk with you and are super friendly. Cool place.

Located in a rural town in Northwestern Pennsylvania, Sprague Farm and Brew Works is fantastic in terms of atmosphere. Upon entering the establishment there is a huge tinsel beer mug sign that is attached to Sprague's silo. I find Sprague's great for a warm summer evening as the barn can get really warm during these months. The scenery is great, last year my friends and I were on the back deck and saw 3 or 4 whitetail deer which reminds me why I love being in this area. The barn contains a very rustic look with old beer signs and a comfy area to sit. They also have bands on certain weekends.

The beer is reasonably priced at $4 for a pint, but the selection is not vast. I think their menu contains 5 or 6 beers in all. They also serve wine, which I know nothing about the selection or quality of. The food is restricted to cheese and meat trays and other appetizers and small sandwiches. They have been expanding the kitchen but as far as I know, do not offer dinner type selections.

Sprague's atmosphere supplemented with a warm NW Pennsylvania night and good friends have value that far exceeds their price of pints and not so huge selection. If I was to have a friend from school ask me to take them to get beers, Sprague's Farm and Brew works is where I would take them without a doubt.
