My local CANTrader, tone77, apparently traded for this with cpolking and got one to pass on to yours truly in support of the ongoing madness known far and wide as The CANQuest (TM). My thanks to you both!

The CAN sits in front of me like a monolith, staunch black with white and light blue lettering. 24 Fluid Ounces of High Gravity Lager (HGL). The CAN is of Recyclable Aluminum from the Ball Corporation. Now you know as much as I could glean.

Wow, what a Crack & Glug! It was as fizzy as soda pop and any head that was produced quickly dissipated. Color was a deep, golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity and I saw both Midas and Croesus licking their lips. Nose smelled of grape bubble gum, never a good sign. Mouthfeel was thin with a definite grape taste in the mouth. It was comparable to grape esters in candy, whether bubble gum, cotton candy, taffy or the like, but it was not terribly pleasant. I found myself wishing for the more familiar taste of corn/silage. Man, some of these adjuncts ... What is it with some of these Wisconsin breweries? I like Central Waters and New Glarus, but Minhas and Melanie have got to go! Finish was dry, really dry, which is what happens when you wick that pesky water away in the "Ice" process, leaving only user-friendly alcohol in its wake. Let's be honest - this is made for its CANsumer to get where they are going without much trouble. Its dryness CAN be headache/hangover inducing as it will leach the water from your brain so I definitely would not want more than one and even one may be too many.

Thanks to cpolking for sending this beer. Poured from a 24 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of grains, some plastics. Taste is grains, green apples, a hint of malts, refreshing. Feels light in the mouth and overall is about your standard adjunct lager.

M-X Ice High Gravity Malt Liquor has a thick, white, quickly-dissipating head and a clear, yellow appearance, with lots of bubbles streaming up, and little-to-no lacing. The aroma is mostly water, with some sweetness and some grains. Taste is, again, water and sweetness (really this drink’s major characteristic), with a grape soda undertaste and even some hop bitterness thrown in, as a matter of course. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and M-X Ice finishes surprisingly crisp and refreshing. All of its characteristics scream, "I’m NOT a malt liquor." This is the most non-malt liquor malt liquor I’ve ever sampled. It’s much more similar to a lighter-than-average regular American-style lager. Weird. It’s okay, which is a surprise, because I was expecting the worst.

A- Pale straw with a fizzy white head. Starts thick, pretty much goes away.
S- Clean smelling, some sweet adjunct characters.
T- A bit of sweetness, almost like apple juice. A bit of mineral character, some grain/corn. Somewhat sour in finish.
M- Dry finish. Light body, slightly fizzy carbonation.
O- Not a very good beer. Goes down pretty easy, but nothing particularly notable.
