This is a very welcome style hidden behind a strange name. The smell is distinctly that of a young IPA. I wonder if aging the bottle slightly longer might help. The beer pours a bright amber/gold. The head sticks around for a little while before subsiding with minor lacing. The taste is a bit unbalanced and the mouthfeel pays for it. The drinkability is decent because I love this style of beer.

I picked this up because it was on sale, having no real clue what kind of beer it is. I haven't had anything else from Raasted either, so this should be a good experience.

It pours a cloudy copper colour with a thick foamy head. The head eventually settles down to about a centimeter, leaving some nice lacing. A very nice looking beer!

The aroma is lots of hops with some citrus notes. There is also a little bit of roasty aroma that almost reminds me of something smoked.

The flavour is very big on the malt to start. It has a nice cleansing feeling that gives way to quite a bit of bitterness. Towards the end, my mouth is filled with some faint hop flavour.

Overall, this is a nice interpretation of the style, but isn't big on the hop flavour. I would say it's sort of like a cross between an IPA and an ESB... Overall, I like it.

Hazy deep orange colour. One finger of tan head that falls quite quickly to a thin cap but leaves a ring of lacing. The cap remains as long as there is beer in the glass.

Hoppy yet somewhat sweet smelling at the same time. Mandarin orange sweetness mixes with grapefruit rind. A little bit of caramel maltiness as well. To the nose it seems more Pale Ale than IPA.

Well balanced in the flavour department. Toffee and orange to the malt with a healthy dose of citric hop to the back half of the mouth. Slightly herbal in the lingering aftertaste. Certainly tastes like a Pale Ale as well, I'll adjust my ratings to that style.

Mouthfeel comes off just a touch watery. Carbonation is fairly active, but the body has a certain blandness that seems watered down.

A pretty good pale ale which is listed as an IPA at the time of this review. Nothing show stopping, but a solid brew.

This is a pale ale, from Alberta stores, with Chinook, Palisade and Amarillo. It pours a tinged yellow, with some lace. It has an easy mouthfeel, is a tad above average and a good drinker. A good hoppiness, some orange citrus, it is still by all means an American pale ale style.Drying finish.

A- I poured this fairly aggressively into my glass and it started out promising, with a thick foamy off white head, but it quickly settles into a puffy looking film over the brew. It is clear on the bottom but hazy towards the top of glass and is a medium hued amber color. The lacing is of sticky whisps clinging to my glass.

S- The aromas are malty at first and become very citrus like, primarily of orange zest, and finally there is a fresh leafy hop character to finish it off. This smells like how an American IPA style should, but not to the extent of some of the west coast varieties out there.

T- This has a well balanced flavor profile overall. It starts out sweet and malty, then changes to grapefruit and orange with other mild citrus flavors in the backround. The fruit forwardness kind of hides the leafy bitterness of the hops themselves. It does linger on the palate for a few minutes afterward though and becomes more hop like in flavor.

M- The beer is definitely medium bodied, as it has a modest chewy feel to it. The carbonation is plentiful and has a good zippyness that goes well with the citrus character. It is clean and crisp, making it thirst quenching.

D- It's a decent beer that is worthy of enjoying more than one of in a sitting, but I agree....it's not something I would want to drink with a light summertime bbq meal. With that said though, if I was eating some spicy rub pork ribs or something like that, then this would cut through it well. I will buy this again in the future.

Pours a slightly cloudy orange-amber color with a big off-white head. Aroma of malt and citrusy hops. Taste is quite hoppy with citrus and pine, as well as some malt. Medium-light body and a fairly dry, bitter finish. Drinkablity is good, this is a solid APA from Denmark of all places. Worth trying!

330ml bottle poured into tulip glass.

Appearance: Hazy copper orange with large orangey beige head. Good retention and lacing.

Aroma: Very smoky with orange and tangerine hop aromas.

Taste: Very smoky with a generous amount of orange and tangerine hop flavours, and a lot of barbecue spice. Enough malty backbone to carry the spicy smoke and hops. The hops are not aggressive but there are plenty to be enjoyed, and the barbecued smoky flavour is a revelation in here - so, so delicious. If ever there was the ultimate beer to go with food, this is it.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, crisp, refreshingly carbonated.

Drinkability: Outstanding. Almost impossible to savour because it is just so good. An absolute must.

Lots of Danish on the label and no English; let's see what this newbie is really all about...

This beer pours a cloudy orange-brown hue (dead-on IPA-esque), with one finger of thick soapy off-white head, which renders some spotty lace around the perimeter as it recedes. It smells of caramel/toffee malt, and tropical fruit - grapefruit and pineapple. The taste is biscuity, caramel malt, and thin citrusy/earthy hops doing their best to balance things out, and almost succeeding. The carbonation is a bit fizzy, the body more or less medium weight, and it finishes off-dry, the caramel malt offset by the flowery citrus hops.

An interesting Euro interpretation of a Yankee IPA - my knowledge of Danish is exactly zero, so I'm going to assume that 'Grillol' means 'works well with grilled things', and that, if correct, wouldn't be wrong...

Saw this @ the local COOP liquor store 'beer cave'. Thought it was Dutch from the writing on the bottle...I guess Denmark is right next door...

If Grillo means Yank Pale Ale in Danish, then looks-wise they are on the right track. Nice hazy/cloudy aprocot in colour, nice, borderline creamy head and lot's of sticky lacing. Need to develop a cooler bottle cap.

Lot's of floral citrus, reminds me immediately of mandarin orange. Some caramel malts liingers nicely in the background.

Taste is, alas, just slightly above average. Malts are thin and sweet and then get pushed aside quickly by the hop. It's like the grapefruit and orange citrus are locked in battle and neither really gets to shine. Not much of a malt backbone and the overall impression I get is sorta watery APA.

Aggressive carbonation takes away from the experieince in the case.

AS of now, my favorite Danish beer. Good bye Faxe and Tuborg....bleh

Pours out of a 330 ml brown bottle, a hazed yet bright copper body in appearance, tall chunky and spongy white head with impressive retention.

Dry toasted malt at first in the nose, wet green hops and grapefruit, some citrusy sweetness.

Dry clean toasty malt up front in the flavour, finishes with earthy herbal hops, musty astringency in the aftertaste with hints of citrus.

Medium-full body, good carbonation and zip on the finish, helps make it very quenching.

A quenching American style Pale Ale on the dry side, a bit more depth with the hops than usual, but not overly memorable after a while.

A: Clean and crisp yellow with a thin white sustained head. Looks great as you pour it.
S: The smell had hints of an IPA for sure, but it was not as strong as I like the smell. I reckon they used less dry hopping than other IPAs I have tried.
T: Tastes like mild fruit with a nice bitter finish. However, the finish is somewhat abrupt and not as well rounded as it could be.
M: Medium carbonation kind of takes away from the smooth feel you can get from an IPA.
D: It is a better than average beer with a refreshing taste. It goes well with spicey food too. Best served cold.
