Purchased from the Class Six on post. This is the last of the sixer. I've had other Shiner brews and seen some good offerings from the place, though a beer snob might give them a thumbs down.
Pours a light straw with a finger of very white head. Low retention, some lacing. Moderately active carbonation, very good clarity. Looks like a Miller or equivalent. Nose has corn grits, some hay, and a light hop presence. Very light.
Tastes of grain, but not malty. Light hop presence. Good mouthfeel due to pretty active carbonation, and remains so even three minutes after opening and pouring. Dry finish.
This beer would appeal to the macro adjunct lager crowd. It's got a little more character than a Miller and I think I'd choose it over the big three in a blind taste test; Lord knows it holds up better because it isn't gross at just below cellar temps, which is in its favor. However, if you -told- me this was a macro adjunct lager, I'd probably believe you, because there's not a lot here that's different.
I'm appreciating it more because it's over a hundred degrees out.

This is another decent, fairly enjoyable but basic Shiner beer that is not remotely close to their best in my book but is definitely better than the characterless Shiner Bock. In the end, it is a light, standard but reasaonbly good basic American pale lager.
Very pale gold, it has a small white head soon thinning to thin ring, no wisps or lace.
Aroma is slightly soapy perfumy apple, grain, hint of grass - standard basic pale lager but nice.
Taste is similar, grain, apple peels, grass, hint of 7-up, dryish mineral water throughout, faint sweetness amd bitterness lingering with grassy element, lingering hint of grain.
