12oz bottle purchased at International Beverage in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Pours a clear and dark ruby hue with a sliver of beige head and some dots of lacing on the tumbler.
Smell is toasted grain, pumpernickel, raisin, table cream, and figs.
Flavour is toasty and grainy malts, caramel, and pumpernickel with just a hint of dark fruit sweetness. Fleeting aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is lighter than medium bodied, cola-like bite mid-palate (a bit spicy), quick drying finish. Refreshing.
Overall, Shiner Bock is a basic but enjoyable dark larger that quenches the thirst without making you think too much. Pretty decent for what it is; I would quaff this at a party no problem.
