A - Somewhere between amber and brown. No head retention and no lacing.

S - Bready malts, and brown sugar, and grass.

T - Very metallic. I don't remember it being this metallic. The bready bock taste is there with a little bit of sweetness. But then the metal comes back.

M - The feel is very crisp and carbonated.

O - There is nothing offensive about this beer, but it's not all that great either. As uninspired as it is, it's super drinkable, even as it warms. This was definitely one of the "gateway" beers for me. Growing up in Texas, I thought Shiner was the end-all, be-all for beer. Maybe it's gotten worse, or maybe my taste buds have matured. Either way, it's not something I would seek out anymore. Still, it holds a special place in my heart and is definitely a step or two above the macros.

Every time I get Shiner Bock I curse myself for not remembering how bland this beer is. There's nothing to it. No flavors to speak of, no aroma. I'm not quite sure what the point of the beer is. It's not awful, it just isn't anything.
Appearance: sort of amber
Smell: None to speak of
Taste & Mouthfeel: None at all
Overall: Doesn't even rate "meh"

Served in a pilsner glass at the Tower of the Americas.

A: Rich amber-brown. Hint of auburn. No head. Some effervescence. Very pretty.

S: Malt and lager yeast. Moderately unpleasant.

T: Initially not so bad, but then it gets just...bad. Sweetish-bland malt, no discernible hop prescence whatsoever, and a cheap, bitterish finish.

M: not bad! Smooth, with a hint of carbonation.

O: It's not bad in gulps, but this is not a sippin' beer.
