Kosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmos mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.

12oz bottle poured into Three Philosophers wine glass. Picked up during the COVID-19 pandemic from a grocery store for about $15 as part of a variety 12 pack. No discernible date anywhere.
Appearance - Pours soapy 1 finger off-white head with decent retention. Clear perfect gold body. 3
Smell - Soysauce, olives, old dank grass and maybe alcohol. Weird, rare property where I can't tell if it's appetizing or offputting. 3
Taste - Dank musky corn. Bitter aftertaste. 3.25
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied. A bit syrupy. Not particularly refreshing. 3.25
Overall - Not very appetizing at all to say the least, however, if this beer is competing within style with other American lagers, suddenly it's not doing so bad. Probably as good or slightly better than your typical macrobrew. 3.5

Pours a cloudy golden color, almost orange, not a very prominent head. The smell is that of an IPA, citrusy with hints of pine. The taste is pretty a pretty dry & hoppy with maybe some lemon or orange. The feel of this beer is pretty fizzy & goes down smooth. This beer resembles a less profound IPA, not to bitter, but a tad to light in my opinion.
