Appearance: Pours a copper color with a 1/2" white head. Excellent carbonation that's very inviting. The incredible carbonation is what keeps a head skimming across the top of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Smell: Sweet malt, taffy, caramel.

Taste: Sweet malt.

Overall: Not much taste. I really can't describe the taste well. I don't taste any hops which is unusual for a dry hopped beer. I'm dissapointed. I'm starting to wonder if this brewery has a single decent beer.

Poured into a becker a clear medium golden with withalmost a creamy-like top with good carbonation.Aromas of toasty cereal grain and dryish cracker malt, the aromas are pretty light.Dryer flavors with a little smattering of leafy hops,a bit of sweet dough in the finish. No frills but not a bad lager beer, average to above average like many Shiner offerings.

Has a German lager feel in the nose with faint herbaceous hops and pale grain.

"Hop jacked"? That's funny. This might be a little closer to what Bud used to taste like. A touch sweet, with evasive hops that leave a somewhat soapy aftertaste.

I'm not sure whom they're reserving this for. blase'.

Shiner Kosmos Reseve... 4.98% alcohol poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint.

A- Smooth amber and gold fluid producing a mild off white head.

S- Metallic scents upfront with slight malty backbone.

T-M- Taste is a sweet and lightly malted watery mix. Nice and easy for the drink...

Overall a good beer with excellent potential.

Pours a bright golden-yellow with a thin head. Aroma is of grape and champagne. Light and crisp body with a pleasant sweetness, that ends with a dry, clean finish. The light carbonation makes this beer very easy to drink. A good alternative to macro lagers if that's what you're in the mood for.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Pilsener glass. The label has a brief description of the beer but no ABV or freshness date.

Appearance: Its body has a light golden color and good clarity with a tall white soapy head. This tall head quickly settles down to thin film of foam. Lacing is slick and minimal.

Smell: There is not much here at all really just faint pale grainy malt notes with some light hints of grassy hops.

Taste/Palate: There is a light sweetness from a white bready maltiness and cereal grain adjunct notes. The hops balance this with some grassy/earthy bitterness. There is a slight citrus like acidity as well in there. The finish is soft and dry with light carbonation.

Notes: This one is drinkable but just kind of boring.

Bottle pours clear golden body with a small white head. Some spotty lace decorates the glass.

Aroma has light spicy and grassy hops, vague fruity esters, and some toasted caramel.

Light medium body has crisp carbonation.

Taste has a bready and sweet grainy caramel maltiness. A subdued hop bitterness struggles to balance. Finishes with a clean crispness.

Pretty nice for the style. I could drink a few of these in the right circumstances.

Part of the Shiner Assorted family reunion 12 pack box

Pours clear, dull medium almond amber, minor head, minor lace

Malty nose of no great interest.

American pale lager...yup....hmmm....not much going on here..just a hint of malt , next to no hops and basically very little of note to comment on here...kind of a nasty metalic after thing I can say is thankfully there were only two of each beer in the box..

A pleasant but average beer that is clean and has a bunch of biscuit taste. I would not turn this one down, but I would not go out of my way for it either.

The beer pours a yellow orange color with a white head. The aroma is sweet adjuncts with some earthy hops. The flavor is a mix of corn, wheat, grassy hops and grapes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not terrible by any means, but not too good either.

Pours when pulled out the family reunion mixed 6. Cool idea. Pours yellow and gold, looks like a lager, and it has about 1/2" of white head on it, small bubbles, not really something that leaves any lace.

Aroma was pretty neutral. A little bit of sweet malt.

Taste yields a marginal lager yeast profile. Undercarbonated for style. Is kinda plain, the hops don't stand out, but there's enough there to get the ibus into the mid 30s I would guess. The malt sweetness isn't heavy. Nothing is heavy about this beer.

This isn't a beer that is probably on anyones wants list. Its fairly non descript. I have no idea what makes this a special reserve beer, as it seems pedestrian. But the good news is no off flavors of any kind. There probably isn't anything too challenging for your average non beer geek person. I dunno, maybe someone's mom would find this to still be too bitter, as it isn't as watery and mild as a bud light.

Pours out golden yellow with a small white head that disappears quickly, no lacing. Smell is very faint, mostly floral. Apon first taste, the carbonation is the first shock to the system. Other than that, this is just plain. Nothing special about it. Too me, it's just a few ingredents different from their Blonde, Light, and spezial liecht. Very disappointed yet again by Shiner.

12 oz bottle served in a snifter.

A - decent looking, with a crystal clear, amber-copper colored body, and a small, short-lived head. Light carbonation is visible.

S - The nose is a rather weak malt with barely detectable hops.

T: Despite the claim to be an American Pale Lager, this is a mild lager, more like an amber than might be expected. It is a little hoppy but has a stronger malt component. Clean finish with a good, if momentary, mix of hops and malt.

M - Medium-light body; slightly dry finish.

O - Not bad, certainly, but rather pitiful and boring for something marketed as the special reserve beer of an established brewer.

Poured a beautiful, rich golden body with a bit of an orange tint and a thin foam cap of head. For the style it looked fantastic and very inviting. Scents of bready and sweet malt with a medium-low level of floral and herbal hop aromas. A simple, appealing, classic American Lager aroma profile. Very nice. Flavor begins with medium-low sweetness with a nice honey-like character that carries throughout the sip. This is quickly joined by a nice medium-low level of floral hop flavors with medium-low bitterness. In the middle there is a nice mingling of floral and herbal hop flavors mingling with a low level of malt sweetness and slight grainy flavors. Finish is medium-dry with strong floral and herbal hop notes imparting a pleasant medium-low bitterness. Aftertaste is floral and herbal hops and grainy malt. A good, simple, clean, crisp, modestly hopped flavor profile that is refreshing and a good example of an American Lager. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a slightly drying feel and an unfortunately low level of carbonation. It feels fairly good, but more carbonation would be nice. Overall this is a fairly good American Lager. It is pleasantly dry and floral in taste, with a nice floral and malty aroma. The mouthfeel could use a little work, but otherwise this is a solid example of an American classic.

Situation: Feeling good, so I will review a second...
Glassware: Standard pilsner...
Appearance: choppy, off-whitehead creates islands of thin head atop a copper-bronze body with little effervescence...
Aroma: having trouble smelling the hops promised by its label; malt is present...
Palate: balanced mouthfeel with an oily end to a medium-bodied intro...
Taste: the straight-up lager base that Shiner has perfected seems slightly amiss here, with the subtle fruitiness not distinguinshing tself among its fellow Shiners...
Overall: I began eating chips halfway through this tasting--it wasn't in search of a proper pairing--actually, not an indictment, but the word RESERVE usually is, well, reserved for a beer that stands out... and this does not...

a: pours a bright golden orangish color.. 1.5 finger head.. settles to a thin film.. clarity with streaming carbonation..

s: musty apple with some spice hops. touch of pale malt sweetness to round it out..

t: pale malts right upfront.. middle of the tongue brings more of that mustiness.. some apple cider qualities.. backend has a quick but present spice hop bite.. very clean finish with some lingering sweet malt & some hops..

mf: light bodied with crisp carbonation.. very good for this style.. crisp clean finish leaves you wanting another sip..

o: im pretty impressed.. goes down easy & is flavorful for the style.. would choose this over any macro lager.

A: A nice, rich gold color with a small white head that hangs around until the last sip. Lacing is present and it's incredibly carbonated. It actually reminded of a bubble tube, minus the floating plastic fish.

S: It's hoppy and pleasant. It has a very earthy aroma, albeit subtle.

T: Quite well balanced! It starts a bit malty with a nice hoppy finish. Somewhat sweet when it first touches your tongue and ends with a very subtle bitterness.

M: A lot lighter than expect and perhaps a tad bit creamy. Not nearly as carbonated as I was expecting considering the show it puts on.

D: Kosmos Reserve is incredibly easy to drink. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and think it would make a great companion while hanging round the grill this summer with a bunch of close friends.

Pours a nice copper color with a 1/4" of head. Very little retention. Smell is a mild pine hop aroma. Taste is grainy up front but with a nice pine hop bitterness in the finish. Taste like the smell is very mild. Mouthfeel is a little thin but still close to medium bodied; decent carbonation.

Overall, this beer is not very memorable, but it's a decent thirst quencher if you're looking for a simplistic, lighter beer.

Poured thin with a weak head, gold amber. Not much aroma, somewhat like a light lager that shall remain nameless. Flavor was the only shining moment, but not by much. Light malt and straw flavors, small bitterness. Mouthfeel was flaccid. It amazes me that more than one of these beers is labeled some kind if "reserve." if it is that special to some dude named Kosmo, keep it.

Appearance: Amber-red with pretty good lacing and carbonation.

Smell: Bourbon and vanilla. Very malty. A tad herbal with a good deal of caramel.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Mostly pine with a hint of bourbon and/or vanilla. Mouthfeel is crisp overall, but a tad watery in the finish, especially after it warms a bit.

Overall Drinkability: Definitely one of Shiner's better beers.

The story behind Shiner is interesting, and at least you get that on the label of the bottle!!!! I'm only kidding... there's a lot more to it than that.

It's a golden Euro lager, yes, but there's a nice malt character to it; and there's more malt to it than many. I'm not sure if I'd call it a Munich helles as it seems lighter in body and gravity, but maybe not... it's at least somewhere in the same vein.

It's also got some nice floral/grassy/spicy hops to it, but the malt seems to be the real emphasis. And with that said, it's at least nicely balanced with bitterness as well. It's rounded and smooth.

I'd originally thought of it as a kind of an American pre-prohibition beer, but it's really not bitter enough for that. It is, in fact, more of an original "imported" German-style lager. Take that as you will - and I'm sure some of you will think something along the lines of "Ahh, it's like Moosehead" - but it's actually got a little more depth of malt than that. So...

Overall...? Not a bad quencher. It's got enough character to interest you - as opposed to a mainstream American pale lager - and it goes down easy. Worth at least trying the next time you BBQ!!!

Got this from a place that carries singles.

I've had and enjoy a Shine Bock on occasion but this beer just isn't my style.

It was poured into a 16oz beer glass, a honey color clear with a finger of head that died and continued to bubble from the bottom.

It had a grainy/tinny smell like a tin can. The taste was a little metalic as well but crisp and light.

The mouth can feel the light carbonation and watery feel. Ok, but too light for me not my cup of tea at all.

Golden color, which is not at all what the bottle suggests. This is a good lager with a lot of lighter qualities.

Smells immediately of wheat and a little yeast and citrus. There is something tangy in there, as well.

Tastes way better than I had expected. I like it. I was expecting hops, but thankfully that isn't what I get. A little hay and tartness. It is clean and crisp with a light floral character at the end. There are some flavor similarities to an orange cream ale, even though that isn't at all what this beer is.

Clean feeling with the perfect amount of tingling.

Very pleasantly surprised.

Only available in the Shiner variety pack.

A: Golden appearance with large bubbles in the head. Small head with some decent lacing. Translucent with the carbonation vey apparent. Looks like a traditional lager.

S: Somewhat fruity and bready. Not a whole lot else from the smell. Seems to be very balanced. Smells like a "beer" to me. There is nothing that makes an impact on the smell.

T: Relatively malty with a very, very smooth finish. Not bitter at all with sort of a bready, malty aftertaste. Everything seems so harmoniously balanced its amazing.

Overall 1 thumb 3/4 and 1 sideways on this beer. Haha. I still haven't formulated a strong view if this beer. It has a great taste if your looking to just kick back and have a few beers with the boys. The downfalls are that it is only available in the variety pack with 10 other beers.(Some of those not re-buy choices for me), and the smell is completely lacking in character. I think that if it was available in 6-packs I would buy it again and keep at least a 6 on hand in my fridge. Great beer Spotzl Brewery!!

Pours an effervescent honey with 2+ fingers of cream colored head. Average head retention & lacing

S: Cereal notes & grassyness, some perfumy notes

T: Cereal notes, slight honey notes & some grassyness up front. Crisp lemon as this warms along with grassyness & crackery notes. Finishes crisp with grainy notes

MF: Light/medium bodied, firm carbonation, nicely balanced

Very drinkable take on the style. I could do a few of these on a hot Summer's Day...
