Pours a brilliant golden orange color with a fleeting half inch ivory head that dissipated into a ring of foam.
Cardboard, corn, and sweet caramel malt comprise the initial aroma with toasted bread and floral hops rounding out the profile.
Flavor reveals caramelization, with melanoidins taking center stage. Deep malty flavor, accompanied by toasted bread crust, a tinge if citrus, and slightly peppery hops add intrigue.
Body is pretty moderate, with carbonation tending toward the higher side.
Overall, more complex malt character than anticipated from shiner. Not on par with the top examples, but a decent brew.
