Pours a clear dark gold that this of a much lighter hue than most of the high end oktoberfests, with a white head with decent retention. The aromas a super grainy but not in the least bit toasty, which is highly disappointing. Flavorwise, it more in common with a a loaf of white bread than any sort of toast. It's very bready with a hint of caramel maltiness, but doesn't begin to explore the darker notes that are the reasons I seek out Oktoberfests in the first place. If I were to make a 10 item list of the characteristics I've come to expect from a Marzen, this beer would have only two of them, and they're the proper weight and texture. No need to try another.
