Served from a 12 ounce longneck into a shaker pint. A moderate pour produces about a half inch of head which sticks around, coating the sides of the glass. The beer is an orange-brown with medium carbonation.

Light malt on the nose with maybe just a whiff of hop aroma. A biscuity taste is present, with some subtle fruitiness, with just a touch of lingering bitterness. Nice burpiness and crispness, and quite smooth. A very easy drinking beer.

This is the best Oktoberfest beer that I've tried recently. You can't get this beer where I live, but you can get it here, in Sheridan, Wyoming. This town has an excellent local brewery and an awesome selection, particularly at Star Liquor. Quite a welcome change from most Wyoming towns, where you can get all THREE brands of beer- Bud, Coors and Miller.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.25

Appearance:
Pours transparent copper hue, with a two inch thick head that quickly dwindled down to a paper thin ring around the glass. Light carbonation and no lacing to speak of.

Aroma:
Sweet and heavy on dark malts. Toasted caramel. Hops are faint. A slight, metallic haze envelops the experience.

Taste:
Caramel malts up front, a bit of yeast and nuttiness, and followed by a burning alcohol presence that runs alongside, if not overpowers, most of bitterness. Aftertaste is rather unpleasant and reminds me of stale peanuts.

Mouthfeel:
Rather thick with a bit of carbonation. Finishes dry. Easy to drink and for the most part, enjoyable. I don't think I could drink more than one bottle in a sitting.

Overall:
I like Shiner Bock quite a bit, but I don't consider it a good beer. The same can be said here, as it reminds me a bit of that. It's mostly easy to drink. Mostly. There are a lot of better examples of the style out there, however, a little bit of work could do wonders here.

a: Clear golden copper; pours with a thick, fluffy, super sticky head.

s: Muted sweet bread, faint leafy hops, and trace of something metalic.

t: Very subdued flavor-wise, but bad overall. Doesn't have the malt backbone so the leafy hops are just a touch too prominent. Fairly clean finish, just a hint of metal.

m: Crisp with relatively creamy carbonation.

o: Not bad, middle of the pack o-fest.
