Well it was a nice day out. It was spring. Nothing goes better with a spring day like a nice lighter style beer. Enter Shiner Dortmunder, A.K.A. Shiner's Spring Ale.
It poured with about a finger thick of head that disappeared quickly and no lingering lacing after that. The beer is a nice golden yellow, very similar to apple juice in that it is not strictly yellow. It has some hints of brown in it. There is visible carbonation and some cloudiness to the beer, but not much.
Malty and bready are the dominant smells in this palette. I can smell a faint hint of sweet, earthy tones. The taste has a nice spice to it with a malty/dry finish. There is a slight sweetness that I quite enjoy. It is not a very complex, but it is crisp, clean, and refreshing. It is worth checking out on a nice spring day.
