The aroma must be the rye as it seems slightly ripe.

The color is an enchanting light brown, red, and orange like a lingering deep sunset. There's not much lacing. It's crisp and floral on the tongue. I didn't pick up an obvious chocolate or caramel flavor.

It lives up to the promises on the bottle for a "roasted sweetness" and "spicy rye." The flavor is complex. My husband likes hoppy light beers and I prefer rich dark ones. The Ryes & Shine is a unique blend of the two opposing forces that somehow work.

A: Brownish amber. Very clear. Off white foam that is continuously fed by extremely energetic carbonation.

S: Sweetness with honey, wheat bread and sunflower seeds. Mild almond nuttiness too. Wet oak.

T: Nice and light roasted grain, caramel and malt shines through at first. Spiciness of white pepper and fennel shines through towards the end and finishes crisp due to the high carbonation. A little bit of mineral steel flavor in the aftertaste. Slightly salty too.

M: Juicy. Nice and mellow, but still with a decent flavor profile. Bridges the gap in light beer and heavy micros. The aftertaste builds a little, but not overpowering.

O: I'm a sucker for highly carbonated beers. It helps this beer finish nicely and it really balances out the rye nicely. Not a flavor bomb like others, but I could drink a six pack of these happily.
