Jackie O's nails this brown ale, it hits the brown ale right in every direction not typically huge on brown ales this however is excellence in a can. Beautiful nearly black but it let's enough light to create a crimson mahogany, light tan head velvet textured fine even lacing. Aroma explodes when you open the can, toasted nuts with creamy chocolate notes, hint of honey and cereal grains it's good enough to put your nose in the glass. Flavor wise so smooth, perfect cohesion no clash of off flavors, this is complex brown ale at it's best with a nutty caramelized sugar from the toasted malts, the wildflower honey is full fermented out no residual sweetness you find in most honey beers, this is a flagship beer for a reason. It goes great with a Romeo y Julieta Reserva I'm smokin' adding cedar and spicy Republica de Domincana tobacco to the mix. I can't help but enjoy every sip, earthy hops finish the taste leaving a balanced brown ale on the table. Smooth even keeled carbonation cleanses the palate, medium bodied brown with enough abv too give it more complexity on the palate at 6.5%. Overall an anytime beer, that I'm proud to buy local in Steubenville Ohio at Valley Wine Cellar beer drinkers keep this stuff moving off the shelves maybe we will catch an expansion of their brewing operations to see some of their sours move into mainstream distribution, I'm still planning on a pilgrimage to the brewery maybe next weekend...there is a bottle release.

12 oz can served in a chalice.

Pours with a dark red-brown body topped by a small but durable head.

The aroma is rather rich and complex, with chocolate and fruit cake notes. The flavor is even richer, with dark fruits, some spicy hops and a load of roasted grains joining the dark chocolate. Mildly bitter finish, and never as sweet as expected from a brown ale brewed with honey.

Feel: medium body and carbonation; crisp with a slightly dry finish.

O: a flavorful and distinctive brown ale in a can. Recommended.

Beer #14 8/9/13

The color is dark brown with a red hue. The light tan head is sticky, creamy and foamy, leaving a strong lace on the glass.
The nose is mineral, a light metallic touch throughout. The taste is pretty much the same. Malts are solid, leaving hints of cocoa and light woody notes.
The feel is balanced in a medium body verging light as a tea-like note tames it down. It's got crispness and creaminess in moderation, a little thin and herbal in the end.

The Chomolugma English Brown from Jackie O is decent...the beer poured a cloudy opaque brown with thin ecru head that is not lacing. The scent carries maple sugar and subtle sweetness. The taste starts as a typical brown bready then transitions to bitter with a nuetra sweet like finish. The mouthfeel is full in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this is a very interesting brown and well worth a try.

12 oz. can poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Brown and a bit transparent. Small khaki head.

Smell - Lots of honey. Chocolate malt. Caramel, but lots of honey.

Taste - Starts off with some nice roasted chocolate malt. Then honey cuts the flavor. Sweet, but not cloying. As the caramel drops, the roasted malt bitterness lingers in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Kinda thinned out by the honey. Medium carbonation.

Overall - Not bad, and not infected!

Presentation: Poured from a half gallon growler into a large pint glass. I picked this growler up yesterday and have had it in my refrigerator since.

Appearance: Pours with two fingers of tan head. This settles slowly into a half finger, leaving no lacing behind. The beer itself is opaque, with just the slightest hint of red/brown near the edges.

Smell: Sweet and malty, with the slightest hint of roasted barley. Notes of caramel and molasses.

Taste: Dark and sweet; tastes of molasses, lactose, and coffee. A little tobacco like smoke. Finishes with a long, lingering roasted barley bitterness.

Mouthfeel: A little higher than average carbonation. Body is great, thick and viscous.

Drinkability: My second offering from Jackie O's and another solid beer. You can definitely taste the same roasted barley and earthy flavors in both of their beers. I am looking forward to trying more.
