Poured into a snifter. decent pour. Tan head, exquisite lacing, looked like a dalmation. Bar was dark, but the beer appeared boldly black.

Whiskey smell.

Tastes full bodied n carbonated. Creamy bourbon chocolate. Not really the flavor for this beer, but reminds me of rum cake (if it was saturated in makers mark).

Mouthfeel is perfect, thick and creamy but not too syrupy, and with none of that trub you sometimes get in the bottle, maybe im just not used to drinking from a tap.

Drinkability is low just because this is so damn strong. Delicious, but i would never exceed two of these a night. (599 characters)

Appearance: Pours fudge brown with a rather modest head that quickly fades to a ringlet; spots of lacing linger around

Smell: Chocolate fudge, caramel, vanilla, marshmallow, oak and Bourbon

Taste: Chocolate fudge, caramel and Bourbon forward, with developing marshmallow tones; in the middle, the oak and vanilla tones develop, with the finish being quite a mellow combination of all the elements

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low to moderate carbonation; warmth in the gullet

Overall: One of Jackie O's better efforts, I would call this a marriage between a Bourbon barrel-aged IS and a barleywine

Thanks, howopeeps, for the opportunity (645 characters)

Absolutely love this beer. Pours like black ink with a think mocha head that disipates very fast. Great big bourbon, chocolate, coffee smell. The taste is amazing with again- lots of bourbon, wood, chocolate, coffee and vanilla sweetness. There is some heat there in the finish, but hey- if you bought it, you read the label. Another exceptional offering from this brewery. (373 characters)

I have to say im a bit disappointed with this one, its almost too bourbon'y. I think that's because I find the base beer a bit watery. (134 characters)

Big thanks to Exiled for sharing this bottle.

The beer looks exactly like an imperial stout should, completely black with a dark tan head. The aroma is wonderful. I get a lot of roasted malt and chocolate, as well as a lot of notes from the barrel aging: bourbon, maple and vanilla.

The flavor is more of the same. You can tell the base beer is excellent and the chocolate and coffee notes come through nicely. I also get the same barrel aging notes as in the aroma: whiskey, maple and vanilla. The bourbon is present but is not overpowering. All of the flavors work very well together and make this an outstanding beer.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. (666 characters)

Big, heady-looking, thick and viscous, this dark brown beer looks like it intends to bring it. The head is darker than medium brown and about one finger tall. Its retention is strong, as is the lacing stuck to the glass.
With lots going on in the nose, the malty foundation laid down is strongly evident, not to mention being enough to hold together lots of strong notes of some pretty heavy stuff with ease. It smells like a thick, heavy bread cooked with molasses and brown sugar. It's evidently alcoholic and very warm without being nothing more than straight heat. It warms nicely and gives a kick while allowing tons of flavor to come through. The malts are heavy and dark, complex in and of themselves, and providing just a bit of roast and cocoa. On the tongue, perhaps just slightly more than in the nose, some woodiness becomes a factor while adding a dryness to counter a sweetness without being too dry. A light note of herbal leaf adds somewhat more dryness, hops just enough to balance while keeping things fantastically even and preventing any domineering or one-sidedness in the flavor.
Smooth and beastly, thick and robust without sitting heavily on the tongue or in the stomach, the leaf is actually felt in a dryness toward the front of the tongue and keeps excellent balance in the mouthfeel as well as every other aspect of this beer. Carbonation is just right, only a bit of active crispness in the rich, smooth brew. (1,438 characters)

Big thanks to Matt for sending this my way in a recent bif! Review from notes.

A: Pours black with a very small tan head that dissolves quickly and leaves behind no lacing whatsoever.

S: Nice and bourbony, some chocolate and plenty of oak. There is a little bit of vanilla and caramel as well.

T: Surprised by how chocolatey this beer is, very nice. There is also some brown sugar and some slightly sweet dark fruit, plums came to mind at the time.

S: Medium to full bodied, low carbonation, but very smooth and easy drinking. No sign of the 10.50%.

O: A very nice beer, a great start to a mini-tasting that it was consumed at. Loved how chocolate forward it was mixed with with bourbon flavors. (704 characters)
