Review taken as soon as cans hit the shelves near the beginning of Fall 2014.

12 oz can with some pretty stunning artwork. I like Jackie O's and their style. Purple artwork of the mystic mama herself sitting on a black background. Poured into a Nonic style pint glass.

A - Hazy yellowish with a slight touch of golden yellow hue. It looks refreshing. Head pours decent and settles to a thin ring of lacing leave very good stick.

S - fruity and citric notes are what I picked out first. Passion fruit, tangerine, and even a whiff of kiwi. Pine resin note comes on faint with a touch of honeyed bread malt make up the backbone.

T - citrusy hops and a nice sweetness. Not quite as good as the nose, but still brings it's flavor across nicely. Citrus and somewhat dank resinous hops come run in between slightly sweet malt notes.

M - medium bodied and highly drinkable. A nice, refreshing feel to this. Texture is solid and it leaves it's flavor clinging to the mouth. Smooth mouthfeel that flows very well.

O - a very good beer from Jackie O's and one I will pick up again. This stuff tastes so fresh and it is just that considering Jackie O's is only about an hour away. Good stuff

Received as an extra. Three months old.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice hazy golden hue with a thin head that fades to leave sudsy lacing.

S - Aromas of sweeter malts, bitter hops, nothing particular special, pleasant though.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, malts are more subdued, nice bitterness, faint remnants of tropical hops, finish is a bit bland.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, though slightly thin.

O - Overall this beer was nice, though probably a shell of what it should be. Tasty but should be better.

Poured into the Speigelau from a 12oz canned on 2/19/15. Really fresh. Clear amber with a finger of loose, white head with ample lacing. Pungent hop notes, pine, mango, perhaps a bit of lemon/lime, and a nice, sticky resinous dank hint (bit of that savory funk). Juicy outright with big lemon and grapefruit coming in hard. Slightly too much bitterness for the sweetness of the malt in this one (but I'm splitting hairs)... overall tasty and crushable. Medium mouthfeel, with some of the danker notes lingering... well put together IPA. Nice head scratcher... Jackie O's still hasn't disappointed.

Had never had a beverage from this brewer before...i am impressed. A very flavorful and fragrant IPA which can compete with, but not surpass, similar beers in its class.

Very very good beer, IPA with a fruity honey kinda feel to it, almost like a hoppy Irish ale. Great beer from a great craft brewery.

Similar to Lagunitas Sucks and Brew Kettles White Rajah. Extremely fragrant with heavy citrus with some melon and passion fruit. Very bitter ending note. Malt is present but takes backstage to the hop profile

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that consistently covered the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has lots of flavors of citrusy hops along with a moderate amount of bitterness. Hints of pine are noticeable towards the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of visible carbonation.
O: There is nothing overly special about the taste of this beer but it is a good representation of the style.

12 oz canned poured into nonic pint canned 10 days ago

A: Dark yellow slightly orange hazy light pour so not much head

S: very piney resin a little fruit

T: Very resiny nice pine a little fruit nice bitterness a little sweet

M: Medium feel lots of hoppy aftertaste

O: This has some nice hop flavors not much fruit which I tend to associate with a west coast IPA but it's all about the hops in this one but it's not abrasive like Hoptimum or hop slam but it doesn't have near the alcohol either. This is a nice beer but it's not mind boggling.

Nice hops

3.95/5  rDev +0.3%

Pours a light orange, with a slight haze, finger of tight white head, good lacing

Smell is kiwi, papaya, green onion, a big dank resin, some zesty citrus, some nice herbal like notes.... Just a hop bomb

Taste is has plenty of those hops, tons of kiwi, huge coating resin, ton of piney bitterness, some of that earthy greenish onion but it works well. A small hit of malt in the back but not much

mouthfeel is resinous and coating, a little oily, very dry

Good stuff, way out of balance but certainly well made

Gorgeous hazy orange color. Smells like fresh citrus fruit, floral piney hops and some pineapple juice. Taste follows the nose - tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, finishes smooth with moderate bitterness. This beer is fantastic. One of my favorites.

Starts a bit bland but finishes crisp and floral. Very hoppy with A- texture. A very good beer and although not a world class brew, it is as good of an IPA that you'll have easy access to.

Going to pick some more up.

Date: 11/2/14
Location: Received in trade from JSquire
Draught/Bottle: Can
Glassware: Tulip

Appearance: Gold in color with a thick persistent white head that has really nice retention that lasts over a minute. Nice cling and carbonation frothing when swirled in the glass.
Aroma: Citrusy with strong aromas of grapefruit and pineapple. Lots of rind from these fruits. Some hop bitterness. Biscuity, slightly buttery pale malts.
Taste: Tart citrus hops with the grapefruit and pineapple very pronounced. The hops have a very dry bitterness, that is much more intense in flavor than in aroma, that attaches itself to those rind flavors. Very biscuity buttery pale malts.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium high carbonation. The dryness of the beer is persistent well past the finish and requires sip after sip to quench that thirst.

Notes: Canned 9/30/14

12oz can poured into a milkshake pilsner glass. Canned on 09/24/14

Appearance: Golden yellow with a hint of haze. Thin white head with plenty of persistent find strands, islands, and some small sheets of lacing.

Smell: Tropical fruit, hint of citrus.

Taste: Hoppy, but nicely balanced with some bready/biscuity malt. Fresh cut tropical fruit (papaya), citrus peel, and as the beer warms up, there is indeed something pungent at the finish. Maybe just a hint of onion. It kind of works though along with all the other flavors.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, with light prickly carbonation. A bit sticky on the teeth with all the hop oils.

Overall / Drinkability: More aromatic than some AIPAs I've had, and with a deeper malt base - not massively bitter or having the hops pounding me over the head. A well crafted American IPA. As for drinkability - it went well with Pizza and salad. Not sure if I'd want another one though. Well....I wouldn't have minded a 16oz can. I don't think I could finish another can, but I wouldn't mind a larger glass.

jackie o always brings the noise, no doubt, their beer is fantastic and they seem to excel at the hoppy stuff. this base ipa of theirs is anything but pedestrian. frothy headed, soapy white looking cloud cap to the mostly clear golden liquid. the nose and taste show intense pine hops, with a hint of fresh orange. bitterness is on par, but there is a cool sweetness to balance that comes from the grain. less simple in complexion than i expected, it actually has a lot going on, leafy and fresh are the hops, clean and bright are the malts, but the result is something long and layered. hoppy all the way through, but balance for a bigger ipa (7% abv is no small potatoes). not as impressive to me as their matriarch, which stands as one of the best imperials i can remember, but this is pretty darn good. so stoked to see a few kegs come to denver, i would love to see their beer more widely available here, it has all been outstanding. delicate prickly little mouthfeel is cool too.

After finally getting my hands on this at a hefty price, I was very disappointed.

Very light IPA for my palate. Almost drinks like a session beer.

This beer was poured out of a can that had a cool mystic looking chick with snakes and emblems all over. The beer was a hazy, dark orange, and had a white, sticky head. This beer is somewhat rich. It obviously has copious amounts of hops. Grape fruity. Not overpowering, or banging, but easy and smooth. Mouthfeel is medium all around.

Overall, I like it a lot. Jackie O's makes some good stuff.

Pours Deep Yellow/Orange in glass.

Thick/Resiny Mouthfeel

S: Floral and citrus notes

T: Intense bitterness (in a good way) followed by a zesty citrus taste.

Overall, a fantastic beer. This makes me happy to be in Ohio!

Pours a clear golden orange color with a finger of head, modest retention, and nice rings of lacing.

Smell is not particularly strong but it's floral with a hint of citrus. There is also definitely some base malt in the nose.

Tastes great- so glad to be back in Ohio cause the beer is awesome. Pretty bitter (excellent). Floral notes up front followed by some intense bitterness; has a very very long finish that is bitter and earthy.

Mouthfeel is awesome too- medium light body with a good amount of carbonation. This is a great beer. If you like bitter IPAs, you should get this. If not, stay away.

Smells of candied oranges and sweet mandarin orange fruit. A little bit of the citrus fruit peel too, grapefruit especially. Smells really great. Tasting it, the beer seems a little bit muddled. The flavors sort of blend together and don't really pop individually. But what is here is tasty. Blood oranges, citrus peels, some caramel from the malt all sort of blending together with the bitterness. The finish is that initial taste pretty much with extended bitterness. Nice prickly mouthfeel yet drinks easy for the style, medium bodied.

Overall, actually a pretty tasty and interesting IPA, its flavor profile just felt a bit muddled and that's where it lost points.

Growler filled at the taproom yesterday from a just-filled keg, and enjoyed less than 24 hours later out of a teku.

A: Pours somewhere between polished bronze and a darker shade of gold. Not bad to look at, but not very exciting.

S: Candied orange peel, fresh pine, and juicy tropical fruits

T: Bitter hops, resin, and light pine lead the way. There's some faint sweetness afterwards, which leads to a very dry finish.

M: Average

O: This is a solid beer that I would drink with a smile anytime. But given the competition in this field, it doesn't really stand out. I think Hop Ryot is the way to go if you want a pale ale from Jackie O's.
