12 oz can poured into pint glass.

Pours hazy amber with a 1 1/2 finger off white head, which hangs on for about a minute. Light orange and pineapple in the nose. Mostly citrus but some smaller biscuity notes in there as well. The taste follows the nose with light orange and lemon. Not much malt. The mouthfeel is incredibly light, watery and lacks any depth. The only thing this beer has going for it, is its light ABV making it an okay session beer. For the style there is tons better, but this one has a little charm in the low ABV.

Poured from a can into a Great Lakes shaker. Very cloudy burnt orange color and definitely unfiltered. Not as carbonated as I anticipated. Nose has some nice bready toasted malt notes and some hops.

Medium-light body and firm feel. Nice biscuity malt notes up front and a well-balanced moderate hop rush adds spice at mid-palate. Finish is fairly dry, but not at all lasting. Nothing to get too exciting about here, just a nice mild amber ale that is balanced and flavorful with caramel, toffee, and lemon notes all working together. Exactly the kind of beer that many BAs shun, yet it is so superior to all macro beers that it reminds you just why we love craft.

Ok if you are trying to convert your friends to micro brews this is the one.
It has some bitterness in the hops but not to much and it is not overly dry.
The mouth feel is a light medium and after taste fades quickly
Overall if you have never had craft beer and want to try it out this is a good starting point. Nothing to rave about but still a regular in my fridge.

Very nice to see Jackie O's offerings in the can, I picked up a six of the Firefly Amber and their honey nut brown ale. I've had one of their stellar sours once before, this pours a rich glowing amber just slightly hazed beautiful cream colored head full sturdy carbonation with fine bubbles building into a textured head. Aroma has just a touch of some earthy grapefruit hops, semi perceived sweetness, with bready malt notes. Pretty light on my nares, let's see how it tastes...balanced rolling amber ale. The malts aren't sticky or heavy with sweetness actually finishes quite dry, grapefruit peel, earthy hop additions form into a really nice drinkable amber ale nothing more nothing less don't expect fireworks. Expect really drinkable solidly made beer in cans from an adventurous brewer none for his mad scientist casks and sours. Light to medium bodied even flowing carbonation ample bitterness from the hops leaves for a nice dry aftertaste. Overall experience is a good one, but I can't wait to see some distribution of some of their more adventurous beers!!!

Undated 12 oz. can of Firefly Amber Ale served in a snifter.

Pours a slightly hazy, deep red-amber with an attractive bone-colored head. The head has good retention and leaves small spots of sticky lacing.

Rather ordinary aroma excepting the notably higher (and earthy/herbal) hop level, but the flavor is more complex and rich than a typical amber. Compared to average, this amber also has a hoppier finish and a a touch less sweet.

Feel: Crisp, medium carbonation. Relatively dry for style.

O: A fine session beer or, as the brewer claims, transitional beer for those used to adjunct lagers.

Beer #13 8/9/13

Amber is the color, well suited for the style. A thick white head grows over a finger tall, takes a long time to fall, and remains in some form until the glass is empty. Lacing is left in pretty high volume.
The nose starts off a little muted but does open with time. Floral and citrus hops add a little bit earth and even a little spiciness. Breads, cracker and toffee make up the maltier aspect.
The taste follows suit with a little more strength. There's a bit of a tea-like herbal note also underlying that wasn't found so much in the nose.
This beer is medium-bodied with an even, balanced feel. It had a modicum of both crispness and smoothness.
