Snagged a bottle of this for $1.99 from Vintage Estate. Going in knowing this is a session amber with mild hop bitterness.

A - Very nice carbonation giving me a 1/4 inch of opaque colored head atop of a great orange brown hue beer. Looks great.
S - Mild toasted malts, some crust bread and a nice bouquet of herbal hop clusters,
T - Very hoppy and bitter but in an herbal way. Kind of unbalanced and un enjoyable like biting into a lemon rind. Where I smelled toasted malt or sweet malts is barley transitioned into the taste.
M - Watery enough to make it easy to sip/chug. Light to medium.

Overall it is light enough to session but the hops/malts could use a little more tweaking to achieve a better harmony. I could see why the rating of this is so low.

Appearance: This fine amber ale pours a dark golden color and is topped with 3/8” of white head that dissipates to a thin layer.
Smell: The aroma of this amber is a nice blend of malt and hops that is rather different from most ambers that I have had.
Taste: Hops play a leading role in this beer and they call it a amber but it tastes like a pale ale of even a IPA.
Mouthfeel: This is a medium bodied amber that goes down smooth and has great hop profile for the style, I love what Jackie O’s did with this beer.

Can from trade. Pours a light copper color with a nice fluffy one finger white head. Nice lacing left on the glass. Citrus hops and some sweet malts highlight the aroma, with a bit of floral. Flavor is bitter up front with a grassy toasted back end. Finishes dry, crisp, and clean. Light bodied with medium high carbonation. Unique brew that I could see going great in the summer at cookouts and such.

A- pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small foamy white head with pretty good retention

S- toasted grainy malt with a touch if caramel sweetness, just a trace of piney hop

T- lots of toasted and caramel malt flavors up front, a hint of fruitiness mid-palate leads to mild hop bitterness on the finish

M- medium body with low carbonation, slightly foamy mouthfeel with a crisp finish. High drinkability

O- a malty amber that is certainly unoffensive, but doesn't really stand out. Easy to drink though and certainly session-able

12 oz. can poured into a taster.

Appearance - Burnt orange. Nice white head and retains well.

Smell - Piney and musty hops. Well hopped. Kinda malty. A little nutty.

Taste - Very musty. Piney. Not as malty as I expected. A light caramel nuttiness.

Mouthfeel - Light for an amber. Medium bitterness.

Overall - Eh. Doesn't do it for me.

12oz can poured into a pint glass
A:Hazy brown color with a two-finger head
S: Enjoyable malt aromas with a hint of hops
T: Again mostly malt with a hint of hops, lacks any complexity
M: Thin-bodied but crisp
O: As much hype as I've heard about Jackie O's this was a disappointing first beer to try
