Thanks to someone for sharing this beer. I think it may have been thirdeye11.

The beer pours a black color with a tan head. The aroma is very strong. I get a lot of walnuts as well as a lot of dark chocolate. Very nice. The flavor is just as good and a little bit more complex. I get a lot of chocolate and coffee as well as some oak and molasses notes. Very easy to drink for a beer that is 10 percent alcohol. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Outstanding.

Thanks, MrHirschybar!

Dark black body with a moderately sized dark brown head. This beer looks shiny, dark, thick, and heavy. It's nearly perfect for the style--it's menacingly gorgeous.

A rich, inviting, decadent aroma. There's lots of chocolate and roasted malt with a distinct nutty element as well. There's also some dark fruit. Complete.

The flavor too is very nice, with lots of roasted malt, chocolate, walnut, and a hint of licorice character. Delicious.

Full bodied with low to moderate carbonation--creamy, decadent, luscious--just awesome.

An incredibly drinkable imperial stout with a unique and interesting walnut component.

Bottled, vintage 2010, thanks to Chip for cracking open your first aged beer. Served in snifter.

Appearance is dark motor oil black with no light passing through edges and a dark khaki thin .5finger head c poor retention quickly fading with the alcohol but nice sticky alcohol legs.

Smells strong of walnuts the age has really brought these notes out compared to the more chocolate note I had from Oil on tap last week. Taste start sweet with dark chocolate nibs the fairly dry and bitter with dark choc, big walnut character, brown sugar with a very dry finish. Mouthfeel dry talc, full body.

Great with age, the years really put some meat behind the walnuts, a really unique RIS.

Pours pitch black into my chalice, huge thicket of tan head leaves fine Belgian style lacing down the sides of my glass in even layered rings. 5.99 for a 12.7 oz bottle at 10% abv, kick ass stout that I've shared out of bombers in the past.

Aroma big dry dark roasts, espresso beans, dark chocolate syrup, hints of molasses, even a touch of soy sauce dredging through the aroma. Big walnut oil notes as well earthy/nutty tones.

Flavor Bold dark chocolate, slick oils from the walnut additions, hefty espresso layered flavors, more of that almost umami experience of soy sauce. Big body layered between nuts, dark chocolate, and slightly salty soy sauce notes.

Mouthfeel is full bodied nearly chewy once the last of the sediment is poured into my glass, even slow bubbled carbonation worked really well as it settled after a great fine carbonated head initially.

Overall, impressive on all fronts I could get a beer of this caliber distributed to Steubenville, Ohio note it as a day in history!

This one is almost as beautiful as beer gets. It's a thick, inky black that lets in no light whatsoever but somehow doesn't look obscenely heavy. The head is a magnificent medium brown one, settling to two finger of hefty substance, not just foam. As the beer recedes it drops incredibly sticky lacing in large clumps everywhere to the bottom of the glass. It's a perfect 5 if the retention left a little more on the top with time.
It smells fantastic, and there's no real disconnect from the nostrils to the taste buds. The roast is there without going harsh and also letting the sweetness come through. Creamy, not-quite-fudgy cocoa gives way to a slightly fruiter, more sugary sweetness that's kept in check. A bit of something almost, maybe not quite, woody comes out. There's a general nuttiness underlying, but where it would really pick up would be more specifically walnut notes, maybe something a little meatier, to be more noticeable. Caramel rides underneath the whole way. There's just enough hops to balance, both the overall sweetness and the depth, and the alcohol adds warmth while remaining inconspicuous for its weight.
The body is rich and thick without sitting like a brick, a big body supporting all the flavor without being overbearing. It's creamy and smooth with just enough carbonation to keep it layered on the palate.
