APpearance: purple-raspberry pour with some reddish edges. Very small head that quickly disappears. A bit murky.

Smell: Lots of sweet berries, mostly raspberries with a touch of blackberry, perhaps some french oak.

Taste: Again, the berry taste dominate, touches of oak and vanilla. Slightly sour. Perhaps a bit sweet

Mouthfeel: Low carbonation, medium-light body

Overall: perhaps a bit sweet, it could certainly be more sour and could use a touch a funk. Its a sour light I suppose, but with an enormous (but not noticeable) ABV.

A dark mess of a pour, hazy muck looking liquid with minimal carbonation. Smells of tart berries and a slight mellow funk. Chocolate malt kinda lurks under the fruit overtones. Taste is far better than expected. Very rich and full mouthfeel with a tart raspberry and chocolate dominance. The sour is well integrated in this one. Very uniqe beer and one that I look forward to cellaring.

reddish brown color with a good head of light tan on top. Nice retention as well with sticky webbing up and down the sides of the glass.

lots of fruit at first, raspberries, touches of sour apple tartness, rich with a mild sweetness that starts to billow up, light woody notes and a hint of grapes now as well hint at a barrel in its past a nice sour bite right out in front, really impressive here. Vinegar and tart cherries, raspberries seamlessly woven in with a nice woody, earthy note. vanilla and light brown sugar underneath as well, Hints of a mild sweetness come through mid palate, again rich, complex. Dry finish, puckering with the last drops of sour well on their way off the palate by the time this voyage ends.

Easy sipper here Flavors are bold, but not overwhelming

Poured from a bottle into a sample glass. I had this at Jackie O's during the bottle release this weekend.

Appearance: Pours a murky reddish brown with not much head at all. Not particularly attractive.

Smell: Raspberry with a sweet malt backbone. Mild caramel and some vanilla as well.

Taste: Raspberries with some vinegar sourness and sweet malt. I am picking up the bourbon along with some alcohol in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with mild carbonation and a dry finish. Just a bit grainy.

Overall: This beer is very well balances. The sweet and sour work well. I would have liked more of the caramel and vanilla that I smelled to be in the taste.

Six ounces from a tulip at the "One Funky Afternoon" event. Third batch (2011).

3.5 A: What can I say here? Black with no head. The workers were shuffling like ants on a piece of candy filling multitudes of four and six ounce pours, so no head is understandable.

5.0 S: Simply amazing! Both the base stout and the sour comes through well to make a truly unique mix. Big hit of raspberry, sweet caramel, milk chocolate, and a soft roastiness from the base beer. The raspberry puree lends a tart, almost lactic character. Good amount of vanilla too. Bourbon adds a layer of complexity, but plays a supplementary role. Brett funk rounds this one out.

4.5 T: Taste is much like the nose, but not quite as potent. Lots of raspberry and chocolate, bourbon and vanilla in moderate amounts, caramel and barnyard funk.

4.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. The stout's creaminess somehow survived the brett and this goes down super smooth.

4.5 D: Wonderful, funky stout. This is definitely unique and a great success. As for wild stouts, take notes Deschutes and Odell, haha.

This was probably my favorite feature beer.

04/02/11- Had this one on-tap at Jackie O's "one funky afternoon." This is the 2011; the aged version is much better.
A: Pinkish/purple cloudy brown with a cream collar and creeping lace.
S: Fresh raspberry puree, brown sugar, very dark caramel, dull oak, and a very slight bourbon.
T: Dark chocolate covered raspberries, raisins, brown sugar, "murky" oak... this one gets very good when warming up.
M: Thinner, dry, and almost spritzy.
O: This one is pretty good... I'm very interested to try the aged version in the bottle.

This beer pours the dirtiest mop waters of browns in color with a slight white lacing around the glass. It smells of sweet, jammy, raspberries and has an Oregon pinot tint. It has a really nice nose. The flavor is very solid as well. You get a lot of jam, a lot. Raspberries galore. The raspberries are very dominant yet give a little light to slight funk. I like it. It drinks medium bodied and finishes kind of quickly. Overall I really like this beer, but this beer doesn't live up to the label and description.

22 oz bomber shared with inebriatedjoker.

A: Pours a very muddy brown with some hints at an underlying purple. No head. Light carb.

S: Tart raspberries, big vanilla oakiness, and some bourbon hanging around in there.

T: The tartness begins mid-drink but doesn't really peak past that. Along with the smell the raspberry, oak, and bourbon all play major roles. Fairly sweet beer but it gets offset by the bourbon somewhat. The 11.5% is hidden fairly well but does start to wear on you after a glass of this. The more you drink the more the tartness starts showing itself along with a strange aftertaste.

M: Tastes thick and muddy rolling over the tongue. A little less raspberry puree and a little more carb would do wonders for this part.

O: There is a lot of creativity and pleasant flavors in this beer but it has some roughness around the edges. I enjoyed this more on tap when it had 8 months less barrel influence and better carbonation.

On a side note it's my fiancee's favorite due to the fruit and sweetness, so it might be a good choice to share with the lady folk.

On tap at the One Funky Afternoon Release. Served in a tulip.

Pour yields a moderate brown beer with a thin off-white head and a bit of lacing. The nose has plenty of musty, earthy raspberry and oak character, which increases in tartness as it warms up. The flavor has a good amount of raspberry and a bit of malt. Light sourness to accompany the earthy raspberry. A light bit of earthy funk. Finish is nicely acidic and quite dry. A nice, highly drinkable wild ale.

Another Jackie O's from rudzud.

Light fizzy head, dark murky color.

Nose is crazy raspberry, fresh berry fruit and syrupy, mild toasty brown malt, little caramel, little toffee,

Taste little syrupy malt, mild cocoa and choc, then syrupy raspberry juice, little fresh rasp too, little caramel brown malt, juicy, little mocha. Finish is dry sticky, little flemmy, mild caramel and choc, little raspberry.

Mouth is med bod, little syrupy, mild booze, decent carb.

Overall great but not as epic as I expected, little syrupy and flemmy, great raspberry and dark malts. Tasty.

A - Brown, cola colored beer with not much of a head, not much left on the side.

S - Smells reminds me a bit of a baby Veritas 009, although not as good. Some harsh oak, raspberry that's fairly rich and not very sweet.

T - A lot of raspberry, almost tastes like there's some raspberry bits floating around in this. This seems to have spent too much time in the barrel, oak is pretty harsh. There is something of a vinous quality to this, and a bit of cocoa.

M - Low carbonation, medium bodied, slightly gritty.

O - Not a great beer, it's raspberry but not sweet, chocolate but not overly sweet, but has way too much oak going on. I liked it a bit mroe at first, but it got rough as I kept going.

Poured into a Jackie O's snifter on 7/2/11

What an ugly beer. Murky, dark plum color. Brown hues. Bubbly head thins quickly to nothing more than a tight collar. No lace.

Dense, dark raspberry. Smells murky, too. Funky, dank oak. Hints of cocoa and dark grains. Stray tellings of booze as it warms; not particularly bourbony though. Smells nice. Has a well-seated raspberry flavor; a bit sweet, a bit tart. Not too biting; not sour, either. Works well with hints of chocolate. Some toasty dark grains. Again, not much in the way of bourbon but some barrel must is had on the finish. Medium-full body that is stringy at times. lower carbonation works out alright. Not overly hot, though it has a numbing effect.

I find it has may similarities with some of the previously releases beers. I also find that this one works the best of the lot.

Pours a murky red-brown color with a small off-white head. Heavy on the wood aroma with a lot of sweet, dark fruit and raspberry. A lot of vinegar and definitely some soy sauce to it as well. The salt and soy sauce flavors are unmistakable here. Lots of vinegar and wood, maybe some caramel malt sweetness, a bit of raspberry and other dark fruit. Really just not enjoyable at all.
