Pours hazy golden orange with dense off white head.

Spicy aroma in the nose with considerable citrus and pine. Plenty of toasted malt character as well.

More spice in the initial sip with a lingering piney bitterness that cuts through the malt profile. Pleasing hop bitterness that also showcases the rye. I'm not sure if the haze is from the hops or the malt bill. It doesn't detract from the beer but also doesn't entice.

Chewy mouthfeel that is medium bodied but the carbonation bring a crisp bite.

Overall the focal point in hop ryot seems to be to hit the drinker with a dose of piney American hops. Rye comes through during all phases but in the end a linger spice and pine stick out. This is a delicious beer and sneaky at above 6%.

12 ounce can into pint glass, no canning date. Pours fairly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, citrus rind, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, spicy rye, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/floral hops and moderate caramel/rye malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, citrus rind, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, spicy rye, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness and rye spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, pineapple, citrus rind, floral, grass, light caramel, spicy rye, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of juicy citrus/grassy hops and moderate rye/caramel malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice rye IPA! All around great balance and complexity of juicy citrus/grassy hops and moderate caramel/rye malt sweetness; and extremely smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Good rye flavor that comes through nicely but is not too strong. Very slight sweetness with a moderately bitter after taste. Aroma is very mild, and the overall experience is enhanced with a glass rather than drinking straight from the can. I could imagine this being spectacular on draft but is still quite lovely being store-bought.

Random find in a store near Cleveland, OH. Reviewed at Rising Sun CG, Glacier National Park, MT. Full notes taken on my phone.

A- Cloudy golden apricot body poured from the can to a goblet for the review at Glacier NP. Haziness is high and a white cap rises to half a finger with decent retention. Creamy ring deposits spotty lace.

S- Hop centric with a touch of cracked grain. Notes of tangerine, orange, stone fruit and citrus off the top with hints of cracked rye grain beyond that.

T- Citrus rinds and stone fruit hops really pick up with an oily bitter bite. Orange, lemon zest, tangerine, apricot, floral and pine hop punch. Rye adds its signature spice which melds with the hops.

MF- The body is light to medium thick with a texture between creamy and foamy. High end carbonation helps the hops as it finishes fairly bitter.

Citrus and stone fruit hop character jives nicely with the amount of rye used here. I find too much rye can detract from the rest of a beer but it is used well in this one.
