12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy dark golden; small white head that fades leaving great retention and decent lacing. There's a little bit of sediment floating around as well. The aromas have a solid malt presence. Some hints of caramel blended with some citrus. I'm picking up some grapefruit and orange notes. A little bread too. The aromas are good, but not overwhelming. The flavors start of sharp and crisp. There's a solid bitterness to this one. Lots of caramel, but it doesn't overwhelm the hops. The bitterness lingers a bit. More grapefruit and orange zest. A touch of pine. Some black pepper too. The rye is present, but doesn't seem to shine. It's definitely there though. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's a smooth drink.
Solid Rye IPA from Jackie O's. It's not on the same level as Mystic Mama, in my opinion, but it's still a nice offering.

Excited to see another Jackie O's can show up, the Hop Ryot you guessed hit is an Rye IPA. Pours a hazed copper hue with fine bubbled off white head, fine even banded lacing. Aroma spicy rye hits you up front and center, with citric grapefruit rinds, herbal, and pine accented hop profile the can just says brewed with rye malt and lotsa hops. Rye gives it a creamy spiced bread character, hop pellets are providing healthy levels of hop bitterness citrus peel and mild pine cone flavors very earthy slightly abrasive on the palate, creamy textured. Mouthfeel has smooth carbonation their house yeast always give me just a hint of medicinal or band aid phenolic character but not overpowering to the extent that it ruins the beer for me. Carbonation works just fine, again the creamy texture and luscious light hop oils blends to a smooth finish herbal/pine earthy hop bitterness does not stick around it actually finishes quite clean for a beer with lotsa hops. Overall, lotsa hops a bit of a rye malt base with caramelized sugars decent definitely not mind blowing why don't they release any of their big or wild beers statewide, it bums me out.

12 ounce can. Served in a DFH IPA glass, the beer pours a hazy dark gold color with a half inch off-white head. Head retention is decent, and there's a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like caramel malt, rye, light citrusy hops, toffee, and some bready malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some peppery spice and a lingering bitter finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick with moderate carbonation. I liked this brew, it's definitely worth trying.
