Pours a deep golden color, almost orange with a white soapy head with decent retention. A fair amount of lacing and clarity is subpar, unfiltered I'm sure.
In the aroma are grains and fruit, namely grapefruit and peach. Some yeasty and bready whiffs are also there. Really has a great citrusy scent with a touch of banana.
In the taste, pine, grapefruit, green tea, spice, grain - an overall homage to hops and malted rye. The hops used are fruity as hell, if hell was to be fruity. The rye adds a nice depth of grainy and spicy undertones.
Medium bodied, smooth feel. Adequate medium carbonation.
Overall, this is damn tasty, and a nice, affordable canned option. Thumbs up on this one!

Excited to see another Jackie O's can show up, the Hop Ryot you guessed hit is an Rye IPA. Pours a hazed copper hue with fine bubbled off white head, fine even banded lacing. Aroma spicy rye hits you up front and center, with citric grapefruit rinds, herbal, and pine accented hop profile the can just says brewed with rye malt and lotsa hops. Rye gives it a creamy spiced bread character, hop pellets are providing healthy levels of hop bitterness citrus peel and mild pine cone flavors very earthy slightly abrasive on the palate, creamy textured. Mouthfeel has smooth carbonation their house yeast always give me just a hint of medicinal or band aid phenolic character but not overpowering to the extent that it ruins the beer for me. Carbonation works just fine, again the creamy texture and luscious light hop oils blends to a smooth finish herbal/pine earthy hop bitterness does not stick around it actually finishes quite clean for a beer with lotsa hops. Overall, lotsa hops a bit of a rye malt base with caramelized sugars decent definitely not mind blowing why don't they release any of their big or wild beers statewide, it bums me out.

This one is a keeper- pours a hazy light orange color with a finger of head, modest retention and lacing.
Smell is awesome- plenty of hops and rye spiciness with a hint of malt sweetness. Piney and earthy.
Taste is much the same- lots of earthy hops through and through along with omnipresent rye and a touch of barley malt. Very long juicy hoppy dry finish.
Mouthfeel is great- medium body, moderately carbonated. Can't stress how good this is- get it if you're a hop head, like rye, or so any luck both!

12 ounce can. Served in a DFH IPA glass, the beer pours a hazy dark gold color with a half inch off-white head. Head retention is decent, and there's a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like caramel malt, rye, light citrusy hops, toffee, and some bready malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some peppery spice and a lingering bitter finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick with moderate carbonation. I liked this brew, it's definitely worth trying.
