Review taken Fall 2014.

12 oz black can with electric blue artwork. My favorite can they've release both outside and in. Poured into a standard American pint glass.

A - yellowish golden color with some slight haze to it. White head poured very nice leaving a clumpy ring of sticky lace.

S - citrus and resinous pine notes up front. Orange and lemon with a punch of pine cone. Black pepper and rye notes provide a lovely spiciness. Breaded and pale malt backbone.

T - citrusy hops with orange, pineapple, and zesty lemon to start. Pine resin plays a balancing act on the hop forward profile. Rye sets off a brilliant spiciness and goes hand in hand with the hops. A layer of bread like malt keep things in check.

M - medium bodied and a luscious texture. I could drink this all day long. The malt almost perfectly balances a plethora of hops and rye spiciness. Smooth and flows well, bursting with flavor.

O - this is my favorite canned offering thus far from jackie o's. It's just a solid example of the use of rye and hops while keeping a smooth malt backbone. A must try and one I'll get again.

12oz can, canned on 01/02/15, served in a milkshake pilsner glass.

Appearance: Hazy golden yellow, rocky white foam. Persistent 1/16" foam across the top the whole way down the glass. Thick sheets of persistent lacing.

Smell: Light lemon and citrus.

Taste: Nicely hoppy with lemon and citrus dominating. A nice malt middle and then a lingering bitter and spicy finish from the rye. The spiciness stays, but the bitterness comes across a bit watered down as the beer warms up.

Mouthfeel: Light carbonation, okay thickness, and some definite hop oils sticking to the teeth and palate.

Overall / Drinkability: A solidly good IPA with a nice rye kick at the finish. Went well with food (root vegetable korma) and I could easily have another.

This is the best of their canned options. BTW great designs on the cans.

Love the blue baboon can. Poured a clear, medium amber in to my Spiegelau. Two fingers of of clear, white head with lots of lacing too. Smells of a fresh pine forest, with the occasional orange tree hidden in there for good measure. Built on a crisp rye foundation with a hint of a brown sugar note. Tasted of fresh (but light) orange/grapefruit juice, slightly spicy bite of the rye, and a transient bitterness that complements the package. Very refreshing, medium, clean mouthfeel. Residual bitterness (again the grapefruit juice) which fades off gradually. If you can get Jackie O's, they haven't done me wrong yet! Another awesome example of style.

12 ounce can into pint glass.
3 finger thick and foamy head that stuck around for the whole glad fading to about half to 1 finger by the end with good thick lacing as the beer went down.
clear copper color
Smell hops lots of hops hint of pine And rye which is no surprise
Taste initial taste is mostly rye fades to a bitter pine with a grainy undertone after taste is a dry grainy pine.
Overall this a a great beer one of my favorite. Also abv is not noticeable for a 6.5 abv beer.
