One of the three Nano variations to come out at the last release. This one was aged in a micro bourbon barrel with dried orange peel added.

Thanks to Brad for the hook up - shared a bottle at The Brick Store in Atlanta and another at Cigar City.

The worst part of the beer is the appearance. There simply was not head despite my trying. The beer is extremely dark, but also thin looking.

The aroma is very strong. Boozy bourbon, super sweet vanilla, lighter orange and strong roastiness all find their way to my nose. I wanted to say there was actually vanilla added to this, but I cannot remember now. Either way, the vanilla aroma is very nice and if from the barrel alone, it is quite impressive.

The taste reminded me a lot of this year's BA Dark Apparition. It has all of the characteristic char and malty depth of Dark Apparition, and the sweet bourbon of the BA version, but also it exhibits the slight pang of tartness on the back of the palate that I was detecting in this years BA DA. If not for that the flavor would be sublime, but for it it mars an otherwise great brew. Tart cherry and strong vanilla play back and forth while orange is just strong enough to make sure you know it's in there.

There's a nice dry oakiness to the beer - increased surface area in the tiny barrel was helpful in this area at least. The beer is quite potent and a little hot though.

Overall a nice interpretation. Everyone seemed to love the nanos Brad sent me down south with!
