On tap at the August release. I was super stoked for this one.
There isn't too much different in the appearance with this one. Perhaps the coffee left a little oil slick on the top of the beer, and it might look a little thicker than the rum barreled version, but its still served with next to no head and a deeply black core with Tootsie Roll colored edges.
The coffee is really well done here. It doesn't muffle the aromas from the base beer, if anything it integrates into them, pushing their strengths. Lots of deeply roasted notes with that sharp, brooding type of nuttiness the black walnuts give Aphrodite.
Much like the aroma, the coffee is worked into the beer, becoming part of it, not a separate entity that is simply layered over top. The stout's deep roastiness with the charred bitterness is there, black cocoa notes and earthy walnuts sweeten things up, laying the perfect base for the coffee to work with.
Oil has a really nice mouthfeel, and the coffee hasn't disturbed that much. Thick and rich with a gentle, creamy carbonation. Alcohol warmth pushes the beer well into "imperial" categorization. I'd imagine that the acidity from the coffee would become noticeable if this were drank in larger volumes.
In the top two for best beer of the day, and way up there with the best beers to come out of Jackie O's.

Had this at the August 27th bottle release. 4 oz pour from a tasting snifter. Since all of the variants of Oil were quite similar to the regular, I'm using my review of the regular as a base and supplementing when necessary.
4.5 A: Black. Came with no head on this one.
5.0 S: Rich, sweet malty base. Plenty of bittersweet chocolate and caramel. Moderate roastiness, toasty, with touches of coffee and molasses. The nuttiness from the walnuts makes this a special, truly unique beer. The candi sugar adds a final layer of complexity. Coffee gets thrust up to the forefront, though all subtleties are retained. Coffee works extremely well with the base.
4.5 T: Full flavored chocolate, caramel, molasses, and a general neutral maltiness. A touch of coffee with a moderate roast. Again, the walnuts add a toasty nuttiness that I cannot get enough of. The mint does nothing but distract and adds nothing of value. Fortunately, it doesn't do too much damage. Coffee addition makes this beer a great coffee beer, but surprisingly it isn't much better than the original.
4.0 M: Medium to heavier medium body. Good creaminess and super smooth. Same as the regular.
4.5 D: Love the Oil. Love it on-tap. Love the variants and this is a very good one.

Side by side with the other variants. Not much head. A nice reddish tint. There is a lot of coffee on the nose. Would be a 5 for aroma but the coffee is a bit one dimensional and not my favourite coffee flavour. I much prefer the coffee in the Dark App variant. A bit burnt. Tastes pretty nice. The walnuts peak through and meld well with the coffee. Overall really tasty!
